Good things come to those who wait?

Or is it those who wait are stepped on? My aunt left this one-track minded man who with nothing good to do with his life; we'll call him Alpha. Alpha launched a barrage of jealousy slashing tires, leaving nails in the driveway, and drilling holes in oil pans. My aunt has children and they couldn't go out and have fun because their tires had holes in them. Since it happened so often, they had no spare tires left. This guy harassed her constantly and manipulated his daughter who was no longer his into believing that her mother was a self-important witch. But how could he be the good guy still? After all he put them through? Liar. If he was really the good guy, why did he let his emotions lead him astray? Why couldn't he let it go and find a better hobby? So my aunt starts seeing some other guy (we'll call him Beta) who had been waiting for her since high school. He was a really nice guy; even quoted "good things come to those who wait". But now my aunt's starting to have the feels for Alpha. She feels bad because he really doesn't know what to do with his life now and she'd be much happier if she knew that he was doing better. Well... now she wants to get back with him and kick Beta to the curb. I really don't agree with this. She should have ended the relationship on good terms with Alpha but getting back together with this asshat, after all he's done? Good grief, Flood. And what about Beta? She's not going to feel bad about him? What happened to "good things come to those who wait"?
