Microsoft is moving toward a major new effort to encrypt its Internet traffic amid fears that the National Security Agency may have broken into its global communications links, said people familiar with the emerging plans.
Suspicions at Microsoft, while building for several months, sharpened in October when it was reported that the NSA was intercepting traffic inside the private networks of Google and Yahoo, two industry rivals with similar global infrastructures, said people with direct knowledge of the company’s deliberations. They said top Microsoft executives are meeting this week to decide what encryption initiatives to deploy and how quickly.
Two previously unreleased slides that describe operations against Google and Yahoo include references to Microsoft’s Hotmail and Windows Live Messenger services. A separate NSA e-mail mentions Microsoft Passport, a Web-based service formerly offered by Microsoft, as a possible target of that same surveillance project, called MUSCULAR,
Tell you what the amount of security I had to do just to log onto my Xbox live account after 5 months was stupid, using 2 emails a couple of vertification codes both on my xbox and my email accounts to prove it's me really shows MS is serious about it's security.
Sure they gave the NSA some information (Like everybody else would I may add) but surely this will prove that MS isn't working with the NSA like the conspiracy theorists would have you believe.
MS couldn't even defend themselves, all the backlash they got it's a bit unfair

But durr I'm Fox News Kinect is spying on me

Hoenstly...I don't think MIcrosoft cares about NSA spying...when the Baka Box 1 came out with it's Terms of Service...it said I don't remember word for word but, they can change the fact they aren't spying on you with Kinect anytime with out notice. That to me says "We're gonna spy on you" IF they truly cared likethey so claim, they wouldn't have been so careless to do that with Kinect and put that in their terms of service saying "it may change with out notice" -.- I will never buy a Baka Box 1. Bad enough the NSA is unconstitutionally spying on our e-mails and what not, don't need to give them more access -.-

I don't even put in the security code. Is that bad?
-
To be honest, im not to worried about the NSA watching my gmaing habits, they will problably get a kick out of me cussing out 12yr olds mother for being shitty parents.
this will prove that MS isn't working with the NSA like the conspiracy theorists would have you believe.
Obviously this is just a ploy to cover up the conspiracy!!!
