I'm not taking a side on either side of the gay rights debate here. I'm not posting any hate either. This isn't a matter of equality, rights, or any other part of the gay rights debate. This is a straightforward and simple question. There is no need for raging pro-gay posters here. This thread isn't political. It is about society as a whole. So, if homosexuals never existed, would society and humanity as a whole be better off?

Alan Turing played a critical role in creating the machine you're typing on, so no, we would not be better off.
-
1. Socrates is man. 2. All men are mortal. 3. Ergo, all men are Socrates. Therefore, all men are homosexuals. Anyone who answers yes to the OP is misandrist scum. Q.E.D.

The world would be better off without pathetic men harming other women. "The world would be better off with more real men like me."

Look the only problem anyone has with gays is the way they are pushing to infringe on things that are sacred to someone else's religion. I believe that's wrong. But on the other hand, it's wrong to be disrespectful towards them because they are people too. The oppression goes both ways. Do I wish that they weren't that way? Yeah. Do I hate them for it? No. We all sin in our own ways so we can't judge them for their sins while we are still sinning ourselves. You can disagree with people all you want, but you shouldn't hate anyone. And I won't be answering replies to this because it's my opinion and last time I checked I'm entitled to it and shouldn't be ridiculed or insulted for it.

The only benefit in the whole world of there not being gay people is that the west boro baptist church would have nothing to bitch about and could just kill themselves already.
-
it wouldnt matter! it would be the same people would still be cool or assholes gay or not.
-
Edited by iGraviton: 11/20/2013 4:27:37 AMWeren't most Greeks philosophers gay? Without the Greeks, civilization as we know it would probably be pretty different.
-
I think humanity would be better off with more of them. Overpopulation appears to be the root of most of our problems and while it's too bad that assholes can have children men cannot.
-
Assuming you mean they would exist, but be straight, I think so. Definitely.
-
No, we'd be worse off if certain homosexual individuals never existed. Unless you're saying they'd have still existed but would have been heterosexual. Either way a person's sexual preference really is one of the least important things about them.
-
No it would be better if all hyper Christians were gone.
-
Not really. Alan Turing was gay, and he was pretty revolutionary. Not to mention the Ancient Greek philosophers. Plus Ian McKellen, Stephen Fry, Louis Spence etc.
-
Meh, who cares? Gay people exist, so this question is pointless. We don't know if the world would be better or worse
-
There would be a lot less butthurt old men.
-
No Steven Fry? Hell no.
-
Not really. Before it became an 'issue', it was welcomed in Greek society. We might not have some of the things we have today because of different kinds of people. Then there are more recent ones like people from Leonardo to Mercury to Cooper to McKellen and all sorts of others. If you just treat them like people, you'll realise that's all they are. Their minds are as good as others.
-
no we wouldnt be better off, as a matter of fact it wouldnt matter.
-
I think we would be better off if everyone was the same color
-
Nope. No Judas Priest, no Gandalf, no bohemian rhapsody. The list goes on
-
It might be tempting to assume that it would eliminate something to discriminate against and divide people over. It would, but even if humans were all the same we'd most likely still find ways to divide us over insignificant things.
-
No, then population control and adoption would be even bigger issues.
-
-
-blam!- no. Then we wouldn't have Bohemian Rhapsody.
-
No, because who would give us sassy life advice and interior decorating tips? -blam!-ing no one, that's who. And who would I be able to hire to shave my balls? There's not a woman on Earth I would trust with that.
-
dis gon' b gud

Edited by Ttasmmv: 11/19/2013 6:56:12 PMRemoving the existence of homosexuals would greater the homogeneity, and so decrease conflict. But this increase in homogeneity could be achieved by removing heterosexuals, or any group that stands out.
