Because the virtual boy was successful, right?
Occulus rift seems like a cool idea, but once you use it, you'll get tired of it. It is going to cause neck pain and eye strain, as well as feel cumbersome. People with poor eyesight or who use glasses most likely won't benefit, and something like this is going to be expensive.
It is overhyped and will most likely fail. Hate to burst your bubble, but just because something got crowdfunded does not make it a success. (OUYA anyone?)

Oculus Rift isn't just for gaming. It has a ton of potential.
Because the virtual boy was successful, right?
Because the Occulus is the same thing as the virtual boy right? because it's still 1995 and technology hasn't advanced at all, right?
Occulus rift seems like a cool idea, but once you use it, you'll get tired of it.
Because you're clairvoyant right?
It is going to cause neck pain and eye strain, as well as feel cumbersome.
See above + because there's no such thing as taking breaks, right?
People with poor eyesight or who use glasses most likely won't benefit
Well we'll actually have to see how the retail version works first, unless you're clairvoyant, right?
and something like this is going to be expensive.
Because prices never drop, right?
It is overhyped and will most likely fail. Hate to burst your bubble, but just because something got crowdfunded does not make it a success. (OUYA anyone?)
Because an innovation in VR technology is the same as a cross between consoles and mobile gaming that combines the worst features of both and the best features of neither, right? I think your post is full of shit.

Edited by Khirna: 11/18/2013 1:15:10 AMFalse. And to expand...The occulus rift and virtual boy offer the same thing, just in a different skin. The virtual boy wanted to immerse you into a game and make it 3d. So does the occulus rift. Sure there are design differences and the technology has come a very long way since then, but I just can't seem something like that succeeding because in the end, it will have many of the problems the virtual boy had. And anyone who thinks this won't screw with your eyes is kidding themselves. Also, it doesn't take a genius to figure out that someone who wears glasses won't be able to use this. Not sure how it will affect people with contacts. Finally, if you can't handle 3d, meaning if it makes you feel sick, then this is going to do the same thing. 3D movies, the 3Ds, etc are all traps for people who suffer from motion sickness. And I lied, that is not my last point. This thing limits any kind of social interaction and will not be very affordable. And if it is, let's say in the $200 range, then count me out, because it will be a piece of shit (not that I am even considering one of these in the first place). A few people will get these, they will have a few hours of OOOHHHH and AHHHH moments, but afterwords they will never touch it again. Why? Read my original post and this one.
