Well, it was like that originally, a lot of people found it confusing and that's why they added primary tags as forums. That's why you'll see some threads from the beta in January existing in multiple forums. I don't see them removing it anytime soon though.

  • People also didn't like the no-rules, mute, self regulation of the forums, but they didn't take that away. I don't think we should cater to the lowest common denominator... People would learn how to use it, and everything would be fine.

  • You mean like how people learned to use the hide and mute features? Have you looked at off-topic? You have to mute impersonation accounts every 5 minutes there, but the majority won't because of that stupid "only wimps mute" mindset, so nothing happens to the accounts impersonating. Only thing I could see coming from removing the barrier now would be giving spammers the ability to spam across all the main tags.
