They're no more spartans than Spartan 3's are spartans. Their suit is said to give a rough equivalent of strength to that of a spartan 2.

 • And without the suit? They are dependant on MJOLNIR.

 • Yeah? So? They're still spartans.

 • Are Spartan II´s dependant on MJOLNIR? No. Are Spartan III´s dependant on MJOLNIR? No. Are Spartan IV´s dependant on MJOLNIR? Yes. Spartan IV´s are meant to work in pair with MJOLNIR. Take that away, and a lot of their advantages are cut off, meanwhile the other generations don´t suffer from that as we´ve seen althroughout known Halo lore.

 • I don't see how dependence on Mjolnir makes them any less of a spartan. A spartan isnt some -blam!-ing social title. Its a military one. They're spartans as that is what they're called.

 •
Are Spartan IV´s dependant on MJOLNIR? Yes.
They can fight without it. They're all veterans from the war, remember, and they survived without having to hide behind armor like the IIs.
Spartan IV´s are meant to work in pair with MJOLNIR.
So are the IIs. That's why they were augmented in the first place, so they could wear the cool new armor the UNSC just made that normal people couldn't.

 • Hide behind armor? Let´s not forget that they fought in much much greater numbers than the SII´s fought with. The SIV´s didn´t have to hide behind armor, they could hide behind other soldiers. Just because they survived the war doesn´t mean they are absolute badasses. Dirt is a perfect example of this for you. Oh, I´m sorry. I didn´t realize the infiltration into the rebel base (the SII´s first mission, along with many others) were done with MJOLNIR. SII´s are incredibly effective even without MJOLNIR. They´ve trained with it and can learn to not be dependant. SIV´s on the other hand are dependant because of their augmentations and because ´oooohhh look at my new toy´. Only the unbreakable bones augmentation is for wearing MJOLNIR essentially.
SII´s are incredibly effective even without MJOLNIR.
And so are the IVs.
They´ve trained with it and can learn to not be dependant.
*dependent And at this point they're more used to being in their armor than they are being without it. They are dependent on it.
SIV´s on the other hand are dependant because of their augmentations and because ´oooohhh look at my new toy´. • I like how you are avoiding the fact that the SIV´s, in order to reach their true potential, NEED MJOLNIR. Their augmentations are dependent on it essentially. And having used something for decades doesn´t make you dependent on it, it´s just familiarity. They´ve been trained (as it has been stated in the novels) that all their equipment is expendable if need be. SIV´s are no where near as strong as an SII without their armor. They are no where as effective without the armor. They don´t have the reflexes augmentation, they depend on the armor for that. What do you mean unlike the SII´s? The SII´s were almost always fighting in situation where they were the only enemy. Your veterans were not. There were dozens, hundreds or thousands of others around them in battle. They could have as easily stayed behind and then got extracted from a planet. Just because they survive a battle doesn´t make them an instant combat veteran badass. The SII´s were the only ones that could accomplish their missions. If the mission was accomplished, they did their job.

 •
I like how you are avoiding the fact that the SIV´s, in order to reach their true potential, NEED MJOLNIR.
The IIs did, too. A II with MJOLNIR >>> a II without MJOLNIR.
Their augmentations are dependent on it essentially.
Other way around.
And having used something for decades doesn´t make you dependent on it, it´s just familiarity.
They're more used to fighting in MJOLNIR than they are without it. John would not have survived his fights without it. He is dependent on it to survive.
SIV´s are no where near as strong as an SII without their armor.
Which is irrelevant, because they won't be fighting without their armor.
What do you mean unlike the SII´s? The SII´s were almost always fighting in situation where they were the only enemy.
They always had a squad with them. Always with allies, just like the other branches.
Your veterans were not. There were dozens, hundreds or thousands of others around them in battle. They could have as easily stayed behind and then got extracted from a planet. Just because they survive a battle doesn´t make them an instant combat veteran badass.
Do you really think they'd be selected if they'd just sat back and abandoned their squads?
The SII´s were the only ones that could accomplish their missions.
Nonsense. Throw enough money and men at any problem and it will go away. The IIs just made it more convenient, since sending five or six guys who can get it done is more practical than sending a few hundred.
Nonsense. Throw enough money and men at any problem and it will go away.
If you´re not going to be serious and continue to deflect what I´m saying with crap, then we´re done here. I´d prefer to waste my time with something else.

 • Not really. They're still augmented and trained marines and ODSTs. Still better than the average soldier.
