SPARTAN IV's remind me of gearwhores/POG's.
They're all like "Check out meh 10,000 dollar worth of gear, lol ur gear is shiet you are not a operator"
Though in actual combat they are no better then a CoD kiddie
English
-
Actually no, in combat they're about as effective as their prototypical predecessors, and they were already trained marines and ODSTs with extreme discipline and skill before they became superhuman.
-
Then why is it in game they are as effective as Marines and when out of gear would be wrecked by a S-II Seriously, and don't say "But the A.I was made to be balanced and fair so the player does all the work!" In MGS2 they gave Solid Snake auto aim when he was in game to show he was top-tier and that was 12 years ago
In MGS2 they gave Solid Snake auto aim when he was in game to show he was top-tier and that was 12 years ago
I'm so badass B-)
Then why is it in game they are as effective as Marines and when out of gear would be wrecked by a S-II
If we're going by gameplay, a Spartan-II is only marginally faster than a regular human and can be killed by a traffic cone.
-
But in gameplay a Spartan-II can jump faster, run faster and fight better then a regular human Even in cutscenes Spartan IV's act like POG's thinking they are supah operator and have large ass egos thinking that the Chief is some old tin can. Though he operates harder then Ms. Egghead does in 5 year old armor. Blue team alone has done more dangerous operations then any Spartan IV has and were probably only 16-24 at the times
But in gameplay a Spartan-II can jump faster, run faster and fight better then a regular human
By virtue of being player-controlled. They're still less durable than regular marines. Which is why gameplay =/= canon.
Even in cutscenes Spartan IV's act like POG's thinking they are supah operator and have large ass egos thinking that the Chief is some old tin can.
Blue team alone has done more dangerous operations then any Spartan IV has and were probably only 16-24 at the times
Yes they have. The IVs are still Spartans, and should be treated as such.

It was pretty obvious Palmer was being sarcastic.
-
Spartans are not sarcastic, they have that bullshit drilled out of them at childhood. They are warriors that only know war and don't act like hotshots failing to crack funny one liners. Your super troopers are fail.
Spartans are not sarcastic, they have that bullshit drilled out of them at childhood.
The very first thing John said to Cortana in the first game was a sarcastic comment about her driving. You don't even know what you're talking about, do you?
They are warriors that only know war
Except Maria stopped being a Spartan to go be a mother. So I guess that's not all they know, eh? And besides, the Spartans "knowing only war" has always been treated as a bad thing.
-
Actually you have to take into consideration that Cortana is a replica of Halsey's brain, the only person other that the Sargent (the name eludes me), who the Spartans feel at ease with. Cortana and Halsey function as the only people that he acts like a normal person with, hell even with other Spartans he doesn't act human, they all have a strange way of interacting. Maria was wounded allowing her to retire from active service, she had a long time to adjust to civilian life because of her wound and then she returned just for the testing of the new armour. Maria is a good example of a Spartan just knowing war because ones she felt something outside of that, she left the programme for good.

They're only human. Behavior can't ever be fully "trained out" of someone. She went through all the training, all the augmentations, all the battle, everything the other Spartans went through...and she still knows more than war.
-
Fair enough, not completely trained out but focused on a single focal point so it can never get in the way. That focal point being there mother like figure. Check it, there are tons of programmes today that help wounded soldiers adjust to every day life. She knew nothing but war when she was injured so they guided her into learning the stuff she would need to know, once she had learnt these things, she couldn't go back to being a Spartan because she now knew more than war. But at the point of injury all she knew was war, it was only afterwards due to the after care armed forces offer than she could be taught the things she needed for civilian life. For the test she put on the armour yes but she didn't do so as a Spartan, she did it very clearly as a civilian demonstrated by her not actually wanting any part in it all. Sorry but if she went back into combat, she wouldn't be a full Spartan... More Spartan than one of your Super Troopers mind you.
once she had learnt these things, she couldn't go back to being a Spartan because she now knew more than war.
Sure she could, just slap some armor on her and send her out to fight. She's still considered a Spartan, can still fight like a Spartan, and is still physically superior like a Spartan.
For the test she put on the armour yes but she didn't do so as a Spartan, she did it very clearly as a civilian demonstrated by her not actually wanting any part in it all.
She's both a Spartan and a civilian, then.
Sorry but if she went back into combat, she wouldn't be a full Spartan
Yeah, she would. She's still considered a Spartan by the UNSC.
More Spartan than one of your Super Troopers mind you.
You mean my Spartans?
