I'm glad she wasn't in this episode. Did you throw your TV out the window when you first saw "Zuko Alone"?

  • No because the episode was still good, not to mention Aang is shit compared to Korra.

  • He's a vegetarian pansy boy that always has to solve his problems with peace.

  • He was a kid. A monk kid. And if you think he was a pansy, just look at every time he entered the Avatar state; his uncontrolled rage nearly killed his friends and everyone around him numerous times. It was only after the entire series that he was finally able to find peace and use the Avatar state as something other than pure destruction. When Korra uses the Avatar state, it's powerful, but it's not unbridled fury and strength that Aang had, it's just kind of a power-up of her normal aggression. So yeah, she's more willing to pick fights, but she never kills anyone or Hulks out on anyone. She's just a ball of teenage angst.

  •
his uncontrolled rage nearly killed his friends and everyone around him numerous times.
That's the thing, it was uncontrolled. When he actually learned control he either didn't want to use it, didn't use it, or condemned the use of it. It was a useful power up given to him and he's all like "But that's baaaaaad!"
She's just a ball of teenage angst.
Yes because when you're a teenager locked up in a compound for years only allowed to take your panda bear out for walks, having your tribe on the verge of civil war, and dealing with bending stealing insurrectionists, she's totally supposed to act sensible. ANd let's not forget Aang was pretty angsty himself. Hell, the entire second half of the second and third season involving Aang was nothing but angst.

But he invented energybending by mastering the Avatar state. I don't understand how you're under the impression he did nothing with his power. He didn't start every big fight by entering the Avatar state because he was a competent bender without it. He learned restraint. Korra leans so heavily on it because she skated through training on natural talent. The Avatar is supposed to be neutral, not a rampaging murderer that keeps everyone in line by throwing a column of fire at their face. Side thought: I'd love to see Korra combine fire and earth to lavabend some shit. Just imagine if this show was rated for an older audience.
I'm not saying he did nothing with his power, but once he learned how to take away bending, from what we've been able to gather it seemed to be his trump card for everything against a bender. "Hurr someone's bad, I'll just take away their bending, that'll show them!" Also how is Korra having natural talent at bending not make her a competent bender? She uses the Avatar State to end big fights more quickly, also we rarely saw her use it in the first season and she only used it in the second season to stand her own against dark spirits so far. •
He didn't "invent" energybending. A giant Lion Turtle from before elemental bending became a thing taught it to him.
See response below.
from what we've been able to gather it seemed to be his trump card for everything against a bender
He's only been described using it twice. Let's be real here: it's a kid's show. Neither Aang nor Korra are ever going to be shown straight up murdering someone. They throw fire around all day like it's a pillow fight. They're both using violence to create peace.

  • So it's okay to mention killing another person but not actually show it? I watched people kill each other in Gundam and DBZ when I was thee years old. Also, it showed Amon's brother killing both him and Amon at the end of the first season yet Korra killing someone is suddenly taboo?
He's only been described using it twice.
The last two bending abilities we ever see out of Aang in terms of timeline is taking away someone's bending, and this is after he learns it. Korra learns it and she has yet to ever take away anyone's bending.

  • What problems could she solve by taking away someone's bending?

  • Unalaq and his two kids without their bending would be a major plus for the Southern Tribe. And she would have been able to take on the two kids by herself too if it wasn't for the giant spirit that interrupted.

  • No no, he re-discovered energybending. The lion turtle taught energybending to Aang. Energybending is what people 'bent' before the rise of the four elements.

  • And if aliens had populated our planet and drove cars I'd still say Karl Benz invented the automobile. I understand the turtle opened his eyes to the concept, but he discovered the technique and ability and how to best apply it.

  • >Comparing a character that got 40 episodes of development and learned a cheat code to a character that has the same cheat code and only has 18 episodes of development. Totally not biased.
