Suggestion: filtering by hiding tags.
So, here's a way to make the site better. Add an option to auto-hide threads by tag. We have the option to follow certain tags, so why not the option to remove them from our view entirely.
Now, you may ask why this would be necessary? well, here's why: Let's say certain topics offend or annoy you. What do you do now? you hide the thread, and possibly mute the OP if he continually annoys you. then what? you keep browsing until you see a thread similar to the one you hid, and then you rinse, wash, repeat. Every single time. Why not just have the option to preemptively hide all those threads?
Example of how it would work: let's say you don't like religious threads. Unfortunately, there are plenty of those to filter through if you browse #offtopic. So, instead of hiding each thread individually, you could go to your profile, and click a "ignored tags" option, and add #religion to the ignored list. Then, when you go back to view #offtopic, all threads which are tagged with #religion would be removed from view.
note: if this option already exists, sorry, I have yet to find it.
So... Thoughts on this?

It's been passed around before and as Viltre pointed out, there is a script for it. Here's the issue - this relies on people tagging their threads correctly. Just going into #OffTopic, I can easily find all these religious threads ([url=http://www.bungie.net/7_what-religion-do-you-hate-the-most/en/Forum/Post?id=61320946#referred-OffTopic]1[/url], [url=http://www.bungie.net/7_Anyone-here-actually-enjoy-religious-threads/en/Forum/Post?id=61908091#referred-OffTopic]2[/url], [url=http://www.bungie.net/7_Threads-Involving-Religion-Have-Become-a-Plague/en/Forum/Post?id=61907081#referred-OffTopic]3[/url], [url=http://www.bungie.net/7_Is-penis-a-religion/en/Forum/Post?id=61319447#referred-OffTopic]4[/url], [url=http://www.bungie.net/7_Lol-at-Atheists/en/Forum/Post?id=61906906#referred-OffTopic]5[/url]) that are not tagged with #religion. This means, even if you were to hide #religion from you, you'd still have to manually hide these threads yourself. I've liked the idea, but if there is an easy way of solving the system of people just [i]not[/i] tagging their threads, it would work much more effectively.
