Everything is black and white

What I don't understand is people's inability to see value in things that aren't their favorite. It's true in all aspects of technology (see: iPhone/Android debate), but gaming fans are the worst. The incremental differences in abilities are inevitable. There are things that the PS4 will be better at. There are things that the XB1 will do better. The question is why does a slight lead in anything imply that the other machine is somehow not just mildly inferior in a category, but utterly terrible? Doesn't anyone else hear Ricky Bobby in these debates? You do realize that's a joke, right? The nice thing is that there are two really good choices. Neither machine has a significant leg up on the other. The only real issue is that because the choice is not so clear cut, we will all likely see our friends lists splinter. That's the only negative I see.

One has better hardware, is cheaper, has less expensive online play, and has more established exclusive franchises. They may both be good choices in your eyes, but one is the better choice. To those whose money is more precious, they very well may see what appears to be a marginal difference become very significant to them, and therefore one may be terrible and one may be great. Shoot, the marginal difference between Halo and Call of Duty isn't that significant, and yet you see people flip their shit over how awesome they perceive Halo to be and how poor they believe Call of Duty is.
