Users under 1 year of age should not be allowed to speak
It seems 99% of the problems on this site are caused by the new users that do not know what they are doing. I propose that anyone under 1 year of age should be forced to lurk. Thoughts?

Terrible idea. This site would get almost no new members if that ever happened.

I think that a better solution to this would be to disable posting on a new account for the first week, but allow them to do everything else, such as mute, like, dislike, partake in polls, etc. This could prevent or reduce the amount of alt spamming we have and also drive off people who are just joining to cause instantaneous chaos.

3 RepliesI'm ok with this. It would at least put some barrier up for shitposters who just make new alts all the time. I love the new mute/report feature, but the fact that there's no deterrent for bypassing a ban or creating an alt has all but destroyed this place. At least before there was a little bit of something to keep the alts down. I can't even comprehend the number of camnator, rose, etc alts I have muted and they've gone unpunished for either contributing nothing or being largely offensive. Isn't "don't be a dick" part of the rules? Apparently that doesn't apply anymore.
