I would just like to throw out there: the guys really could have done a better job in the gameplay release. I believe it would have been in everyones best interest to at least start off with the three guardians joining in the beginning with the capability to show off what each class is capable of and specialize in. Another thing and this may bring out some "ragers" but the guys that were in that video were not doing a good job in-game why would a hunter "bum rush" there were plenty of mistakes that I noticed in essence the guys who where playing were playing like noob gamers. Although the public event at the end was a great touch, some more enemies would have been appreciated although maybe that wasn't possible at the time so I'll cut some slack on that. One thing that really was a must have in that video and plenty of people have complained about it (anyone watch ZeroPunctuation?) the gameplay was nearly completely linear they should have at least explored around the initial battlefield to shot off that this wasn't a linear game, but once again this can be countered in the point of view of people who don't care as much for every aspect of a game rather than the fighting two guys walking around a bunch of old rusty cars would have been boring. TL:DR: Gameplay video could have been better and didn't show off the entire game's capability.

  • I do think that they should have included more in the gameplay, but I do think that they wanted to save all of that stuff for later. I would guess that they'll be using a different class during the Gamescom demo and possibly continuing on from where they left off at E3. That way we might get to see an even bigger public event considering that they only fought a portion of the fallen that flew overhead when the event triggered, like that really big ship (or at least bigger than the other ones). The exploration aspect of the game is also something that they wouldn't just show outright in the first ever gameplay demo. E3, as far as we know, was at least a year before the game's release. I just don't think they would show that much that early, and, knowing Bungie, (and that they know that we are starving for Destiny info), they wouldn't show the same fact thing at Gamescom as they did at E3.

  • Yeah but many people think the games linear now.

  • Well that just means that they don't know what they're talking about :P

  • Well obviously but probably 80% of the people who saw it didnt already know about the game so now 80% of people who know about the game will refer to it as a linear borderlands piece of shat (go watch zero punctuation).

  • I keep reading about how much you seem to care about Destiny and how it's viewed by the broader audience. It's good that you go out of your way to care by posting how BUNGiE should have done its' E3 reveal, but you missed out on the point that BUNGiE has ALWAYS piece-mealed pertinent game info on its' new releases. Watch any of the Halo gameplay reveals and you will see how Destiny is following the same course. I thought we, as the audience, received much in terms of information. Yes, some whom have never heard of BUNGiE or Destiny will base their opinions on the information available to them as they should. You can't expect a new gamer to unconditionally love Destiny just because it's made by BUNGiE. They will come to love different aspects of Destiny as we all have, while some will come to hate it as some on here have as well. -For TL;DR -> BUNGiE doles out little bits of info about new releases, don't expect much. Now on to your argument how BUNGiE should have done its' reveal (Yes I am not done yet). In particular the classes. BUNGiE highlighted a class in E3, the warlock, to show SOME of what it can do as of now whilst it's in-dev. I guarantee that the Warlock class will change or have more features by the time the release rolls around. During in-dev, a crud-ton of features change, added on, removed, and repeat. You can't expect the first gameplay reveal to show much in terms of guaranteed in-game gameplay, only what you can expect. Yes they also showed the hunter and one bit of it's projected power and didn't explain what a hunter could do. I will agree that they should have at least explained a smidgen but again you can't expect too much when you should only expect a little portion. TL;DR -> BUNGiE could have done better with the hunter power explanation, otherwise as stated before, don't expect details on classes yet. In conclusion, while your points are valid remember that everyone who visits here are entitled to their own opinions and have their opinions heard before being judged. Just because someone flames BUNGiE and/or Destiny doesn't mean they should be labeled as misinformed or BUNGiE should have done a better job explaining their still in-dev game. My rant is over and thank you for listening/reading

  • 1. I realize they don't give out to much information but the differences between the classes could have been shown better due to the fact that we didnt even get to see the titan in play the hunter didnt stay true to what it specializes in and neither did the warlock (i.e. the hunter bum rushing and warlock staying behind) TL:DR separation between the classes could have been more prominent. 2. By "specialize" I didnt mean their powers I ment weapons. 3. The raging I ment was people getting mad at me for saying the guy played like a noob. If they like him for some odd reason.

  • In response 1. Really though this was a playtest by BUNGiE to just show rudimentary gameplay. If you wanted something that would show what the classes are for/capable of I think we need to wait until closer to release time to see a gameplay video like that. Maybe the second Destiny ViDoc. 2. Some players prefer different weapons. The guy playing the warlock, for example, picked up the Thunderlord machine gun, a weapon I would have expected the Titan to weild. Really we don't know what the classes can do FULLY, until BUNGiE reveals more information. It could be player preference or some other factors that we don't know that caused the players to play the way they did. 3. Many people are entitled to voice their opinion, the guy played like he wanted. You can't expect MLG level gameplay from BUNGiE because they build, design, and make games not play a lot of them. The reason everyone thought BUNGiE was good at Halo in the early years was because they put together a group of their strongest players together to form an unstoppable force. Don't expect BUNGiE to go in looking badasses in a gameplay reveal trailer when all it's designed to do is to showcase a couple basic gameplay features.

  • You still don't understand what Im trying to get at... I think one phrase can sum it up pretty well. The gameplay demo looked more like just a few guys playing a game not showing off a game. like that's what I would have expected sitting next to my friend on the couch no what was show in front of hundreds if not thousands of people. 1. we already know the Hunter is snipers and pistols, titan are LMGs and heavies, and warlock is SMGs and magic (#spacemagic for those stupid yoloswagatrons) It would just seem like the smarter plan to show off how the game is "supposed" (I used that term heavily and it doesn't fit I know) to be played not "how" it can. 2. well what I said before "Hunter is snipers and pistols, titan are LMGs and heavies, and warlock is SMGs and magic " that's what I ment show people who don't already know about the game the individual weapons the classes specialize in, this could have easily been done in the introduction they (not only all three come in but) do the smart thing spawn check weapon check team and check secondary(or third). 3. Im not asking for MLG level but a few well placed grenades would have been obviously helpful before charging and again WHY did a sniper freaking bum rush?!

  • Watch the demo commentary, it will help out very much to kind of see how and why everything was done. As I've said before, gameplay reveals aren't going to be all about strategy. They are mostly to add shock and awe to things. Seeing a little guy try to go up against a giant enemy will add a little humor to it and will help the audience be awed by the other player character for taking down the boss. This reveal really highlighted the basics: What we can expect of the warlock class, basic enemy ai actions, different powers utilized by enemies and you, public events, and weapon loot. From that standpoint, BUNGiE did a good job. Yes the playing could have been a little better but it won't be right to nitpick. TL;DR -> Don't nitpick because something doesn't seem right to you I guess I'm just different because I have seen what it was like to have absolutely NO information about Destiny and then come online to see how it was revealed. All I can give is my own opinion based on my experiences of growing up with BUNGiE from MARATHON to now. BUNGiE has always delivered and more often than not the gameplay reveal shows just a smidgen of what the game can really do and is capable of. TL;DR -> Wait and see, I guarantee that this game will be huge by the time it's released.
