They've also figured out how to make completely artificial lifeforms, it has no relevance yet, but it's still extremely cool and demonstrates the true power that humanity has harnessed through exploration. All of these things are just steppingstones towards a greater goal. An amalgamation of smaller pieces of information, which can be combined together to create a better result and/or product. You need to invent wires, batteries, and screens before you can invent an iPhone.
