Post Obscure Facts about the Elder Scrolls.

I love the Elder Scrolls, but lately I've found my knowledge of the lore...lacking. I know the basics- The stories of the Aedra and Daedra, how Mundus was formed, the story behind the Dwemer, and all that stuff, but lately I've found myself wanting to know more. Sure, I could just browse the wiki for another million hours, but I thought it might be fun if my fellow ESers(I have NO idea what Elder Scrolls fans are called lol) got to together and posted some random, interesting, and obscure facts about the series. Engage.

Here's the first episode of a series that covers pretty much everything. The first two just cover the Daedra and origin story, after that there is an episode for the history of each guild and race/region.

      • The Lusty Argonian Maid Volume 1 Act IV, Scene III, continued Lifts-Her-Tail Certainly not, kind sir! I am here but to clean your chambers. Crantius Colto Is that all you have come here for, little one? My chambers? Lifts-Her-Tail I have no idea what it is you imply, master. I am but a poor Argonian maid. Crantius Colto So you are, my dumpling. And a good one at that. Such strong legs and shapely tail. Lifts-Her-Tail You embarrass me, sir! Crantius Colto Fear not. You are safe here with me. Lifts-Her-Tail I must finish my cleaning, sir. The mistress will have my head if I do not! Crantius Colto Cleaning, eh? I have something for you. Here, polish my spear. Lifts-Her-Tail But it is huge! It could take me all night! Crantius Colto Plenty of time, my sweet. Plenty of time. END OF ACT IV, SCENE III Volume 2Edit Note: Volume 2 was added in The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim Act VII, Scene II, Continued Lifts-Her-Tail My goodness, that's quite a loaf! But how ever shall it fit my oven? Crantius Colto This loaf isn't ready for baking, my sweet. It has yet to rise. Lifts-Her-Tail If only we could hurry that along. How would I accomplish such a task? Crantius Colto Oh, my foolish little Argonian maid, you must use your hands. Lifts-Her-Tail You wish me to knead the loaf? Here? Crantius Colto Of course. Lifts-Her-Tail But what if the mistress catches me? Your loaf was meant to satisfy her appetite. Crantius Colto Don't fret, my delicate flower. I'll satisfy the mistress's cravings later. Lifts-Her-Tail Very well, but I'm afraid my oven isn't hot enough. It could take hours! Crantius Colto Plenty of time, my sweet. Plenty of time. End of Act VII, Scene II

            • None of it is real, it is CHIM, the Dreamlord is a godlike being and all of the Elder-Scrolls series takes place in his sleep, and all of the people are unaware that they are one entity separated, some realized this and fade out of existence but some realize it and manage to balance themselves, maintaining control, they then are allowed the power to manipulate the dream, one such person is the Emperor, who transformed Cyrodiil from a lush jungle into a meadow like temperate biome, but some have less control, only being able to manipulate certain things, the player takes the roll of one of those people, inventory and other gameplay is all part of CHIM. I'm not even joking, this is canon.

I dunno how obscure this is, but it's thought that Sheogorath in Skyrim is the Hero of Kvatch from Oblivion.

                • Did you know that: -Argonians' genders are sometimes referred to as life-phases, implying they may be able to change gender. However, this is unconfirmed, and Argonian hatchlings may be of either gender. -Argonian appearance ranges from reptilian to almost human; this is caused by the Hist sap they ingest as hatchlings which ceremonially takes place on their Naming Day. -Altmer are among the longest living and intelligent races of Tamriel, and they often become powerful magic users due to both their magical affinity and the many centuries they may devote to their studies. -The Khajiit, along with the Argonians and the Imga, make up the so called 'beast races' of the Empire, due to their anthropomorphic qualities. -The Bosmer are the Elven clan-folk of Valenwood, a forested province in southwestern Tamriel. In the Empire, they are often referred to as Wood Elves, but Bosmer, Boiche, or the Tree-Sap People is what they call themselves. -As part of their Green Pact* they are religiously carnivorous and cannibalistic and do not harm vegetation of Valenwood (though they are not averse to using wooden or plant-derived products created by others). *The Green Pact is a strict code upheld by the Bosmer of Valenwood, which prohibits the use of any wood or vegetable matter of Valenwood as building materials, and requires that Bosmer be strict carnivores. This non-vegetarian practice is part of the Meat Mandate, a section of the pact that also states a Bosmer must eat his fallen enemy; this cannibalistic nature sets them apart religiously from other nations. The Bosmer allegedly made the Green Pact with Y'ffre the Forest Deity in return for Y'ffre's patronage and perhaps protection. As a result, the Bosmer use bone, animal, and insect products widely; imported wood is used when necessary. There are also almost no cities or towns built by the Bosmer themselves. Additionally, the Green Pact made the felling of trees by anyone, foreign or native, a crime against the Bosmeri religion.
