I noticed this when I quoted and used bold letters while commenting on someones post.
As you can see in the above picture the font gets smaller and a little blurry to me.
Below I will also provide three examples of what I am seeing.
First example: Normal quote and normal font.
Its a good day to be a member of the community
As you can see here, everything is normal and easy to read
Second example: Just bold alone.
Its a good day to be a member of the community
Again everything here is Bold, but still readable and clear
Third example: Bold font, inside of a quote.
Its a good day to be a member of the community
But here the Font is compressed and from what I am seeing gets blurry or fuzzy so to speak.
Now I'm not sure if its just my computer or if thats how its supposed to work, but I just wanted to point it out if the font wasn't meant to do that.
Here is what I am running.
OS: Windows 7
Browser: FireFox
Are you running add-ons/plug-ins?: No
Dark/Light Theme?: Dark
Thanks for reading, sorry if this is nothing haha
Sidenote: Interesting discovery after testing this on IE, Chrome, and Firefox and each with dark and light themes.
I have seen that each web browser has different fonts when using quote and bold together.
Firefox being the worst and most fuzzy or compressed as I said, and Chrome and IE are Much clearer.
I will post pictures to compare for others.
Here are the pictures of each web browser to compare:
Firefox: Bold letters and quote
Chrome: Bold letters and quote
IE: Bold letters and quote
As you can see, unless I'm going insane, Chrome and IE, are different from Firefox.
Now this isn't the biggest problem, but I found myself trying harder to read quotes with bold letters harder. So I thought I would mention it.

1 ReplyWhat you've stumbled upon here is different browsers' methods in rendering embedded fonts. Each of the browsers you mention here uses a different rendering engine, and each renders fonts in a different way. Even different versions of Internet Explorer render fonts differently from each other. At this point in web technology, there's no great way to duplicate font-rendering across browsers without doing something like replacing text with images or similar hackery. Nevertheless, it's a good thing for us to keep our eye on. Thanks!

Edited by Spinage: 6/22/2013 2:31:48 AMMost likely the way it's supposed to be. But, we can always ask for a font change! :D Even for regular text the font gets smaller. Could just be the font type, or it can end up being a bug. Doubt it tho.
