So last night I was having a lot of trouble sleeping due to a horrible aching in my stomach... I couldn't determine what it was exactly as it had been a pretty normal day for me. At about 5:00AM I can't take it anymore, so I get out of bed and as soon as I do this it gets worse... extremely worse. I am now feeling the need to throw up, so I rush to my bathroom. After I get to the bathroom I went through, literally the worst half-hour of my life. For about to minutes I am projectile vomiting with as little as three seconds in between purges. Though it was painful, and made me feel light-headed, this is still not the worst part. My stomach doesn't feel any better and about five minutes later it feels even worse. After that I started experience fluid diarrhea for literally three minutes straight. There were no breaks. At the same time I can feel a bubbling sort of feeling in my intestine. After that I just went straight to bed as I was completely beat. When I woke up today at 2:25PM I felt fine and continued to feel fine throughout the entire day. Should I go see a doctor? Am I going to die, or something? Also I just had a leg-day at the gym, so will this episode effect my gains at all? I had 175g of protein throughout the day! Edit: My diet mostly consists of chicken, almonds and oatmeal, and I cook all of my meals. I also had three protein shakes throughout the day along with a multivitamin, fish oil pills, and a pre-workout shake.

  • As always, I have to suggest seeking out a doctor immediately. Don't pretend even for a moment that the answers you find here or anywhere on the internet will give you a safe course of action. They went to school for this sort of thing for a long time, they know what to look for and how to solve your problems. With that in mind, it is important to recount what you have eaten recently, as this could be food poisoning. There is also the chance of a poor diet, especially since you mentioned you go to the gym. One thing I see a lot is those that go to the gym don't always make smart choices about what they eat. Your diet can be positive and help your body gain muscle, but it also can prove to be negative and damage your body too. Once more, please seek medical advice from a trained professional. Also, remember to stay hydrated, vomiting and diarrhea drain you of salts and water, which can cause more vomiting and unhealthy bodily reactions. Drink lots of water, and eat healthy. Avoid meats that can be undercooked. Lastly, good luck. You'll be fine, just don't ignore these sorts of things. You're body does stuff like this when it is crying out for help, so be smart.

  • Definitely see a doctor, have an ultrasound or hitascan done to see what's going on.

  • That sounds like a minor case of good poisoning. If it happens again, see a doc. Otherwise you should be OK.

If it persists, go to a doctor. I experienced some of the same symptoms you mentioned starting six years ago and it turned out I had ulcerative colitis and IBS.

    • Your protein shakes, milk or water? Milk is pretty much the most perishable thing in your fridge. Even slightly spoiled milk can make you hurl and you may not have tasted that it was bad if mixed with a flavored protein powder. That or the chicken.

          • Definitely sounds like food poisoning. Be careful about cross contamination when you are preparing raw chicken.
