Wow I got a lot of replies! Thanks for all your help guys!
I decided the first game I'm going to get is Reach. It appears that the general consensus is that it has the best and most active Multiplayer, good single player campaign, and there's a lot of customization I can do on it.
Again, thanks for all your help everybody! I look forward to playing Destiny along with you all later :)

Edited by Arbiter 739: 6/9/2013 11:15:22 PMReach actually is one of the worst Halo titles and best halo titles in different ways. On one hand it has excellent custom games, forge, and invastion. On the other hand it has Armor Lock and a canon-changing singleplayer. The thing with Armor Lock is that it is an unbalanced get-out-of-jail-free-card that should not have been in the game. The campaign's plot overrode a novel (The Fall of Reach) to tell a story that I think was worse. To sum up why it has been a controversial Halo title... Pros: -Custom Games -Forge -Invastion Cons: -Bloom? -Singleplayer plot -Armor Lock in matchmaking

reach is a good game to start with one of my all time favorites good multiplayer, campaign, forge (you really should try forge world on that mode best halo map in my opinion), firefight, invasion, and balanced weapons but armor lock gets really annoying though

Actually... Eh. =/ I would highly disagree with your descicion. But, then again, everyone on here is biased towards Bungie.
-
That's because she said she's specifically looking to get sort of a feel for Destiny...and seeing as Destiny is made by Bungie, it makes the most sense to put emphasis on Bungie's games. Regardless of what one's opinion might be on Halo 4, it's not going to give you a feel for Bungie's style or what sorts of things one might be able to expect from Destiny because Halo 4 isn't made by them. The game that most fits the things she was specifically looking for in the OP would be Reach.
-
I'd point her in the direction of Halo 3. I still stand by the opinion that Reach was not Bungie's best work.

I've played every Halo to date, and let me tell you... good choice. Reach is also the last Halo that was made by Bungie. It's also the most common game that we play Community Carnages (Basically our communities version of Game Nights) on. If you get a Gold Account I'm sure their are some people around here who would be willing to play with you.
-
Yup, definitely a good choice. As Bungie's last Halo game, it's probably going to be the one that's closest to being like Destiny. And it's definitely one of my favorites amongst the Halo games.
-
It was a very solid and well polished game. Things... just worked so smoothly.

Trying to get the Daily or Weekly challenges was always a blast, and so many different kinds of gametypes and varieties to choose from ^_^ You could literally play almost anything you wanted on Reach...in the actual matchmaking and not having to go to custom games. Or spending hours on Forge World making epic maps (...well, at least trying to in my case XD haha) There's just so much good stuff with Reach...I can't wait for Destiny to release, I've missed Bungie...
-
Same here man. I need a new Bungie game. I need that delicious perfection. Best part is that since it's the first in a franchise, we won't have to deal with people saying the last one was better. I'm so psyched.

nooooooooo! god damn you Internet! anything but reach!
