I give them some information, and in exchange, I get services. How is this any different from "free" versions of games? Where I get to play a game for free, but I get ads? If I want something for free, but I am not willing to give money for it, why is it wrong to give something else?

I never said it was wrong, though you do have to admit, most common people are going to be unaware of what is being given to them in return for using their services, and there is one of my most major concerns. If you're fully aware of what is being given up in return for what you use, all the more power to you, but it is pretty unfair to most common people using Google or Facebook that do not know how they are laying a claim to your info.

  • You're right, it would help if they were more upfront about it.
