I must admit i'm a sucker for the SCAR MK17, i'm also quite a fan of the HK416 and the F200 as well

It's a shame the FN SCAR hasn't been put into true service yet. It is a great platform and is on my list, especially the Mk17. I figure if I need a .308 battle rifle, that would be the one. The M416 hasn't been put into service either, well not directly. They sort of basterized one for automatic rifle roles in the Marine Corps. Thus we have the M27 IAR.

Actually the 416 is in service but not available to mainline troops, special forces groups within the Army and Navy have access to it. Though it's rather expensive so not all special operations groups have it.
-
I read Service rifle as in mainline service, not just available to special forces.
-
actually the SCAR-H is being phased into service in USSOCOM and the marines. even the LAPD have gotten a few of them, it;s a great battle rifle. as for the HK414, shame it isn't being used to it's full potential
-
I see service rifle as in mainline service, and issued to regulars.

in that case it'll be a while until the MK17 or MK16 really come into full service, but the fact that they are being used is a step in the right direction
