I think that the weather should heavily affect gameplay in Destiny, like a downpour in the Chicago swamps should make enemies move indoors, or a sandstorm on mars wreaks havoc on your radar system.
Also storms that spring up in tandem with actual hurricanes/monsoons in real life would be epic! So If you wanted to battle alien scum while a hurricane Sandy rages overhead, there's your chance!
Thoughts?
(edit, blue septagon, yay!)
A side note: Having different weather for different planets is a no brainer, even if it isn't dynamic. But it'd be freakin' awesome if their was bizarre weather with good science fiction behind it, like Venus having huge raindrops because of the reflective substance seeded in the clouds to prevent that planet from being scorched by the sun, etc.

If there is some sort of space and spaceship mission/questline, I would like to see some sort of spacestorm.
-
As with any game, there's gotta be a night mission/ area. Adding a little rain could make things fruity for a change.

Edited by Red Gazelle: 9/4/2013 5:34:35 PMI want to see something like on The Chronicles of Riddick, where the side of the planet facing the sun is way too hot and slowly eats hp. That way nighttime on the planet is the best time to explore, but if you decide to brave the daytime, there should be plenty of underground shelters and structures. Somewhere like Mercury or Venus would be prime. Maybe even the polar opposite for places like Pluto.

hells yea that's a great idea~~~
-
The sandstorms in Dune could make a great appearance: sand travelling so fast that it can shred metal in minutes forcing you to get in cover or die through disintegration. Also, forest fires from lighting strikes or high temperatures would make for good battlegrounds.
-
Dust and rain storms, love that idea. But how about some goddam meteor/asteroid showers? I mean, space right?
-
If it's Chicago, they better have Thundersnow!
-
A weather synced with real world would be great! But honestly, I don't really want a hurricane in real world just so it can happen in a game. So... Probably simulation instead. They might have those weather news in destiny as well.

Varying weathers and climates would be fantastic and would add to the sense of mystery and exploration! Of course, if weather could range from affecting combat to spicing up the gameplay it would be awesome. There would be a few problems with the extent of its affect on gameplay; no one wants to be completely hindered by it of course. But I love the idea! Some games utilize the dark, rain, snow, desert, jungle, ocean, etc. Now adding weather changes in these zones rather than having each zone designated a type of weather would make everything far more realistic. Like if there were seasons under the Traveler or if on certain planets the weather is crazy and goes from snowing to drought in minutes. I'll say again, hindering gameplay is not the objective but having it affect the game more would make it more realistic and valuable. I saw an idea (not mine) on a different thread but someone suggested that weather could hinder things like communications. Expanding on that, perhaps they can mess with radars on vehicles and ships or maybe a certain area gives off EMP waves that knock out some of your tech. It would be interesting but the idea is not to kill you. Regardless I think weather is a fabulous idea and I hope they implement these suggestions into the game!

If better see rain! Lots of it! More like a nighttime dealio.

Yea that would be great, imagine a heated firefight on Mars between you and your buddy against some cabal and all of sudden a massive sandstorm comes blowing large amounts of debris, your squad and cabal scatter for shelter at a near by ruin, your squad gets there first and starts shooting at the cabal coming torwards the ruin making the cabal decide either to try and fight it out with you to gain access to the ruin for shelter or take on the storm and brace themselves and hope to survive....well you get the point :-)

Moar thunderstorms in old Chicago

Nuff' said.

This is magnificent. Absolutely magnificent.

If there is lightning, then I will be thunder. In other words, if I can fight Fallen with bolts of electricity raining from the heavens, then I will do that, all the time.

I have always dreamed in seeing a game that had whether constantly effecting the environment....I hoped that last gen would start doing it, but it never happened. I would be epic to the point where leaving footprints in the mud would get you detected compared to playing in the same area in a different atmospheric surrounding.... Just think....going on Venus during a quiet daylight walk, checking the planet out and noticing how peaceful it is. then going back home on earth, and on the next voyage you find it at night with 150km/h winds and rain pouring so strong you can't see further than 5 feet away. Or on mars...going there for the first time during an electrostatic storm and not being able to find extra objectives in the dust....then a couple of months later retrying the same expedition during a gentle rain and reaching the objective you couldn't complete.....that would be....amazing.
-
Dust storms on Mars seem like something cool...until you can't see 3 feet in front of you and run into a Fallen then he says, "Sup man" and stabs me with his di-...sword.

Hail the size of mini vans

How's the weather up there
-
Acid rain damaging your shielding ?
-
The weather I would want to be caught in the most is Rain. And in the rain it would be awsome too see 2 or 3 drops hit the barrel of your weapon and see some drops come down visor when your not moving. With that my life is complete! :)

I hope Bungie will see this post about weather cause this is a freakin epic idea!!!!! :DD

Edited by StarcideTV: 5/19/2013 10:15:29 PMI like this idea. However being from Minnesota the first thing that came to mind is "Sorry D3THSP00N24 I am unable to get to Mars due to the 12.5 inches of snow in my ships runway!".
