Bungie Community,
Did we mention that Bungie.net is a work in progress? Today, some more of that work is on display. An update just went live that is bristling with enhancements for your forum-going experiences. Compared to the weekly revisions that we enjoyed during the beta phase for “Bungie.next,” this one took a little while longer to become a reality. We hope you’ll agree that the extra wait has made this helping of new code all the sweeter.
Today’s upgrade is packed with over 200 fixes, tweaks, bumps, nudges, and turbocharges. Check out the highlights:
News is easier to discover and share. If you look at the homepage and scroll down to the slider, you’ll see an instant preview of latest content the Bungie Blog on the leftest-most widget. When you drop a comment on those stories, the conversation will be mirrored automatically on the forum. This will yield better visibility when new details for Destiny emerge – or we continue to chronicle the rise of the Destiny Community to power.
Bungie.net is smoother to browse using a mobile device. The Bungie Mobile App is unchanged, but if you surf our website on the go you might detect some slight changes in navigation and layout that make the waves a little easier to ride.
Polls have returned. Let democracy reign, again. Your topics can invite an audience to select from Seven pre-determined options. If you’re asking “Why Seven?” you must be new here. Welcome!
Question threads are brand new. When you mark a Topic as a question, you can circle back later and indicate which answer you like the best. We can help you out with that process, since an answer from a Bungie employee can light the way for other lost souls.
You have bold new powers for sorting the forum. First of all, the index view for any forum has more immediate callouts of recent activity. Also, you can filter the Topics on a forum so that only the ones you’ve chosen to “Like” appear, allowing you to save your favorite conversations for later.
You can now “Like” the Comments for Topics, too. This will impact the way content is sorted within a thread. More popular Comments will rise to the top, allowing even our less vocal members to influence the consensus. And, if the consensus is less important to you than consuming every trollicious detail…
The order of Comments (and their corresponding Replies) to Topics can be sorted. Look at a thread. Find the new option in the upper-right. Select from “Popular” or “Oldest First.” You can take the temperature of the community, or you can read every single remark as they unfold. This new feature is new, and requires a little patience on your part. The site should remember your preference. Let us know if it works!
While your Private Groups remain greatly unchanged, all of these forum updates will be visible within your own clubhouses, too.
What more could you ask for? Plenty! We know. We’re listening. And we’re working on it. For now, please dive into the new toybox and keep the feedback coming.
Love,
DeeJ BNG

Edited by Tom T: 3/22/2013 11:51:51 AMI've another piece of general feedback. Browsing the thread listings can be a little frustrating. There are avatars everywhere, tags +more links, symbols for polls, symbols for questions, "public", and the gap between threads is quite large. On the old site I could skim the entire thread listings and subsequently open up any threads that interested me in about 15 secs. I could also, at a glance, see topics which were getting the most attention. Now this seems more difficult. I am presented with so much information that I do not care about, and need filter. Each update so far has kept on giving, but it might now be worth considering some pruning. I'd start by asking what we really need, browsing thread listings, and what can we do without?

Nice to see things roll along...

Oldest to Latest? Absolutely amazing. Things feel a a little more like they used to! Now I can only hope that Bungie (dark) is updated. It's a little too light gray for my tastes...
-
Thank you, Web Team. Can't wait to utilize this website every single hour of every single day

YES YES YES YES YES
-
Order sorting! You beauty!
-
It still crashes a lot on mobile when trying to look at a post that has more than 3 replies. I also had to restart my phone to comment on this because it would crash when I pressed comment either from the long OP or big thread, I don't know. Other than that this is a fantastic update!
-
I want to say thank you and all the Bungie webteam to make this awesome site even more enjoyable! ;D
-
Oldest First option?! Thank you God and bungie.net team. This site just gets better and better. Keep up the awesome job.
-
Assistant to the community manager? You got demoted?
-
The site doesn't remember the Oldest First setting in IE 10.

Edited by Spacebop: 3/22/2013 12:21:43 AMThis makes me happy. Thanks everyone on the web team! EDIT: Since this is in the feedback section as well, I had the comments set to oldest first, and when my post appeared, it showed up on top, rather than at the very end. It's not really annoying, just an observation.

New update still no saved threads. I could remake the thread but I'll just post it here so it can be ignored again.

We just issued a small hotfix to clean up a few issues we've noticed with this update. Your browser may need to have its cache cleared to see the changes (most notably, the poll anchoring and a few text/font issues).

A mobile fix? Aweesome!
-
very nice. i like this.. I'm sorting oldest first. much easier for me to follow the thread.
-
When do we get custom avatars?

I would have liked a page option along with the chronology. But hey, it's progress.
-
Excellent update! I actually noticed the Poll and Question option a few hours ago while poking around...
-
Awesome! With this new update, I'm sure the forums will feel like home again.
-
>adds ability to sort posts to oldest first >doesn't add ability to sort posts into pages Really? You can't have one without the other.
-
Edited by Skiptrace: 3/21/2013 9:44:36 PMCan we have a newest first sorting option? I was getting used to it and now if I want to see the most recent post in a lengthy thread, I have to scroll down quite a bit.
-
Polls! Whooooo :D Good work guys!

Best update so far.
