Auto sign-in?

I'm sure someone else has said something about this before, but I'm tired of having to sign in every time I go to this site. I have the site remember my password, so it's only a few clicks, but I would rather it be no clicks at all. Is there a setting to change so that I would not have to sign in every time I visit the site? If not, I suggest that there be an option, or that it's always like that.

Your session lasts for 60 (I think) minutes. It is renewed everytime you refresh the site. However, every 24 hours or if you close your web browser all the way down, you have to sign in again. Because we use external authentication systems, we can't just assume you still own the account you're using, and we've found that silent reauth generally doesn't work very well (it can lead to infinite refresh loops). The best you can do is to click the "remember me" button in your chosen login method's sign-in screen. This will allow you to skip typing stuff in, but you will have to still manually initiate the process when your session expires. We're unlikely to change this policy given the obvious security ramifications.

In my honest opinion that's not a wise idea. Just use your Google account to sign in if you're auto-signed in on YouTube. It only takes 1 click, at least it should.

      • The site does use sessions (as far as I am aware) to maintain your login. How long is it between your visits to the site?
