Sadly, even if all of the online, DRM, cloud save and other issues are resolved/overcome, I am hearing that the game just isn't all that good.
Which is a shame, I was kind of hoping to play/enjoy it.

No the gameplay is actually awesome. You can actualy manage tourism, the specailizations are awesome, we got knew streetcars (which incase you don't know, they are two-car trolleys), factories have a tech level that is raised by community colleges and universities, universities are much more advanced in features, etc. The problems I did have it is city size, emergancy vehicles behaving a little too similarly to common vehicles (which is tolerable), and lack of subways and farms (most likely as a result of EA holding back content to ship it out as a DLC, again).

I've read of problems where the simizens don't navigate traffic or properly go to/from home and work and that even a police station on every corner can't overcome some of the bad AI behavior. I've also heard of city size limitations, and other aspects... all of which probably got less attention in development than the requirement for a constant network connection and the DRM management. I was interested, then disappointed to hear of the launch issues, now that I am hearing from friends, I am skeptical and hesitant. I can wait and see.

The only part about the AIs that bothers me is how they are will move into a lane depending on which way they want to turn, so you get a ling of cars on a single, on a 6 lane avenue. That really is the only bothersome part of the AI. Launch was pretty crappy. No one was able to play, the servers are running better though, however they had to take away leaderboards and cheetah for now as they try to resolve the issue. At least it's running better now. Th city size is pretty crappy. The towns fill up way too fast.

The game itself is excellent, and it plays a lot like Simcity 4. The only downsides are the small city size and the traffic glitches (emergency services will politely wait at traffic lights, etc).
