Don't know about anyone else but whenever I play a game and hit someone in the face with rocket and the body stays in one piece its dissapointing. Anyone but me want some body limbs flying round the battlefield?

Halo 3 ragdoll makes up for it.

As long as It's not over-the-top, fountains-of-blood-and-limbs-in-space, a little won't hurt. Just keep It moderate. There are already plenty of other games out there If you want to satisfy your body disassembling desires.

5 RepliesThey are shooting for a Teen rating, so that should point you in the right direction.

I think its unnecessary for this kind of product. Plenty of games do gore in excess, people are coming here for story and gameplay.

I probably wouldn't vote for gore -- but I would vote for location specific damage to enhance fight mechanics. Basically take the "head shots do more damage" mechanic and apply to other parts of the body. Shooting a leg or arm off of a robot will not stop that robot. Imagine gimping an entire legion(pun perhaps intended?) of robots by taking our their legs and then seeing a dozen of them all crawling forward toward you on the ground :) Perhaps said enemy used to have a weapon or ability attached to the limb that you 'disabled' and is now forced to switch to his secondary weapon or ability. Halo and other RPGs already modify mechanics to some extent -- you have to pop shieds before you can apply real damage etc. If Desitiny wants to push the FPS genre forward further, they would do well to deepen the standard point-shoot mechanics in FPS's

Blood is okay. Limbs flying everywhere, not so much.

5 RepliesNeedless violence only distracts from games in my opinion.

Imagine dismembering 4 armed space pirates. Nah. While I don't really care for gore in games, it wouldn't be too bad if they had some, but i doubt they will/can, if they're really going for a Teen rating.

Gore is incredibly taxing on the hardware. Body parts would increase the number of items on the map by at least 6 times. And what Ser Jergen said

Edited by Rubio Audiotre: 2/25/2013 8:37:47 PMThey should do the whole star wars way of killing. Like even though the kills are gruesome, you don't see blood or organs flying all over the room. I think when a light saber hits it automatically carteurizes the impact so they should do something similar to that. Then again when i look back at there games , halo wasn't particulary gruesome heck most sci-fi games don't seem that bloody, look at mass effect.

2 RepliesWhile some realism in video games is certainly desirable and adds to the immersion (and the satisfaction of a successful outcome), overdoing it almost ALWAYS comes off as being gimmicky. Excessive violence is usually the hallmark of an otherwise terrible game, and cheapens the experience. This is all a matter of opinion, though, and some great games have tons of gory violence. But personally, I'm not a fan.

i think it would be immersive if you acturly saw the horrors of war watching comrads fall or be wounded in battle would scare into people war normally ends up ruining lives, but yes i think that there has to at least be some form of rocket o wait why am i still in one piece i think the World at war acturly did the artillery quiet well etc

I do not care for gore.
