What kind of PvP do you want in Destiny?

I'd love something similar to the classic Halo we all know and love, or something completely different than anything we have on the market now. Just anything other than a class-based CoD clone, please. What do you want from Destiny's PvP multiplayer?

  • I like the sound of PVP set up with a deep yet simple set of tactical options to go with requiring good thumb skills and a robust selection of modes - ie exactly what Bungie are planning to bring us.

  • I would personally like a big Faction Wars type of PvP , similar to the world vs world in guild wars 2. I know it's probably impossible, though. It'd also be really awesome if we could have all the regular halo-esque playlists like CTF and Slayer (hopefully they can still call it slayer), while also adding new stuff. Specifically, something like Invasion, where one team is attacking and the other has to defend. I really hope they'll break some new ground in the PvP area.

  • Not get insta-killed. Even though Bakken said that the pace is much faster and the lethality much higher than Halo, I hope you can still turn the fight around if you are caught off-guard (like in Halo).

    • I want it to be fair.

    • Open world. Based on the news, I very doubt this would happen. But here's what I'd like to see: There apparently is some "behind the scenes" matchmaking, that matches friendly people with friendly. I want an option to be a "outlaw" or "renegade" or something. While being one, instead of matching with friendly people, you'd be able to kill those you find. To make it fair, the players might get a warning like 'Warning: there are reports of an outlaw in the area" So, for example, Bob and Jill are doing a quest in the Plains of Daraj. All of a sudden, the warning appears, indicating there is danger. If Bob and Jill kill the outlaw, they might get some money from a bounty, or maybe experience or something. If the Outlaw kills Bob and Jill, he might be able to take items from them (probably not) or just experience. I'd make the game alot more interesting.

      • I like the kind of PVE where it is 3 player co-op and you have to do different objectives.

        • Personally I have no interest in PvP, I much prefer PvE and will be sticking to that. Before anyone says it I am happy to admit I am a mediocre PvP player at the best of times. However I find that PvP to some is purely about tea bagging, rudeness and dominance over others. I have been put off PvP by people lurking at spawn points in Battlefield, kiddies mobbing battle fields in COD, kiddies screaming down microphones, sexism, racism and over aggressive "Elite" players being down right rude to anyone who doesn't meet their own expectations in just about every PvP game I've ever played. PvP is hopefully not going to be that major a part of this game (I personally don't care about league tables and faction dominance, just about enjoying the game) and I won't be joining a faction unless I really have to. Given there is a large area to explore and there are going to be mass PvE sessions for people to enjoy, I am really hoping PvP is something and can miss out on entirely, unless of c9ourse people within the Destiny community can prove me wrong.

I'm not interested in classic anything. I'd rather they mix it up with some weird off the wall PVP like a player gets control of a mega boss and the other players have to survive or take him down. That's Evolve and Left4Dead and those type of creature controlled matches are down right interesting to me. Then there's... Vehicle combat matches, only where players are locked in tanks and other heavy hitters while battling it out over wide expanses. Two team adjacent on giant towers or separated by some gap and they lob death like dodge balls at each other. Chase game where players are on Shrikes and the other team is in control of fast moving air craft and it's a death race to a safe zone. This is in GTA V and it's riot if you have good pilots chasing you. So those are some examples of PVP I'm looking for. The whole team slayer and BTB in a arena map screwing each other over for a number is something I'll just keep on trucking past in Destiny. But if it's outlandish and there's some sort of catch, or monster model you can play as or avoid then yes Horatio I'm all in, I'll check those PVP matches out for sure.

        • In pvp I would like there to be a large skill gap between good and bad players. Essentially I just don't want there to be some overpowered setup or class that just cleans house no matter how terrible that person is at the game. I'd like the good to be good and the bad to be bad

            • I would like a structured matched based PvP with classes from the PvE and unique gametypes as well as deathmatch.

            • Here is what I would like to see. - There should be key places around the world/galaxy that are safezones, and no body can fight each other. This could be main quest locations or trading centers. - After that there can be zones where different factions can fight each other. But to avoid shooting everything you see, you could do something like this. Players have Hostility Level. Your level increases and decreases based on how you play. It would influence the amount of experience you gain by killing another player. How exactly this would work without flaws... I don't know.

            • I beleive/hope its open world pvp but between factions. If you see somone from another faction you can fight them or team up with them. Somone from your own faction you can only team up with them.

            • I hope there's PVP in the open world in some way, shape, or form. I don't want it to be all co-op PVE and then have an arena-esque setup in the main cities or whatever.

Pokemon battles would be nice a nice feature. Just my opinion.

              • The competitive, fun experience we've come to know, love, and respect from the industry veterans at Bungie. I prefer light meta-systems with classes/pre-set equipment while maintaining a strong focus on vehicle combat and map control via on-level weapons/power weapons. :) I expect the evolution of the gameplay we've all come to know and love from the classic Halo titles, with the unique Destiny twist.

                • There was a thread earlier proposing a sort of badlands combat area. I would want like a moon devoted to this and it would be seperate from the single and co-op game. You would go to this planet to fight in simulated battles with other players to prove your combat skills. None of your solo/co-op achievements would come into play and you would have only your multiplayer stats. Everyone would compete in a halo-esque arena. No loadouts just base weapon spawns. It would have a ranking system based on personal stats. Just my opinion.

                  • Maybe we'll se some PvP areas, where you see who do you want to fight, you'll check their stats, and if you think it's a fair match, you can request to battle.

                  • I imagine it would be difficult to recreate Classic Halo with the features that have been announced, not to mention, I'm having difficulty imagining how custom games will work. We'll definitely have to see how it turns out, but I think it might be very different.
