Environment Size

(my first post on this site, excited to be a part of the community) I wanted to see what everyone's estimates are for how large these areas are going to be. We know that pretty much the entire solar system is accessible but obviously it's not real size. How large will the Last City be? I'm assuming the areas on other planets will be separated into a certain number of regions. What kind of sizes are we talking about? I'm fairly certain this game will not be linear even within these regions. And on to the matter of space travel, if we can control our flights. What would travel times be, stuff like that? Just looking for what everyone is thinking of or expecting.

  • My guess is that on the Xbox 360 and PS3 versions of the game the planets and such will be spilt up much more than they will on the next generation consoles. I think that with the greater processing powers that are coming on the next generation consoles we will be able to explore much larger landscapes at once. If you watch videos and the ViDoc on this game you can see very far away in some shots. I think that the largest the maps will get on the current consoles will be smaller than Skyrim (since it loads in the background) but not by that much. On the next generation consoles I think we will possible be able to explore gigantic sections of the planets and the main transitions will be from major locations such as planet-space or planet surface-city. As for the Last City, I think that we probably won't be able to explore the entire place. There will probably be the main section (that being the tower where you live and shop) and then different districts that you can travel to. Space travel is most likely going to be flyable and fightable. I imagine that we will be able to fly from planet to planet using some for of "Hyperspeed" or "Slip-space". Since it is 700+ years in the future and Humanity has gone through its "golden age" of space travel and exploration, I expect that we will be able to fast-travel major distances using FTL speeds. As for regular flight I am quite sure that we can fly around and fight in space since we get to customize our own spacecrafts and decide why kind of ship we want (most likely heavy gunship, medium frigate, and light scout ship).
