Will you buy Halo 5?

...if it continues down on the same path that Halo 4 and Reach took (classes and all that shit)? As a longtime Halo fan, I feel obliged to buy it even if it's bad. I guess I'll wait and see what it's going to be like multiplayer-wise until I preorder it

  • I didn't buy Halo 4, so I doubt I will buy Halo 5.

  • No, certainly not as a pre-order or on release day at least...after the debacle of Halo 4's story and how awful I found it to be, anything that 343i releases that needs purchasing is going to take me a while to get. I just don't care for their story-telling at all, nearly everything about it I find annoying and all kinds of levels of displeasing. Whether I get any more of their installments remains to be seen, but none of them will be gotten as pre-orders anymore.

  • Not going to bother with the new xbox after playing Halo 4.

  • Probably not, it was time to jump ship as soon as Halo 4 was announced

    • Hard to say. Unless Halo 5 has some standout features, I'm not sure I want a new Xbox just for halo. Halo 4 is turning around but... I dunno man, I don't think it is worth it for 1 exclusive.

For campaign, yes. Though I'm not as excited about it anymore. The low impact Halo 4 had on me combined with my excitement for Bungie's new project cast a huge shadow over it. 343 is going to have to step up it's game. I've even lost interest in the lore behind it, and that was my favorite part. I didn't even realize Silentium was out, nor am I wanting to purchase it.

    • Yes, although I do feel some of the soul of Halo was lost in '4'. Partially due to the lack of Marty's music.

    • Yes, mainly for the story.

    • Hell naw, certainly not at launch. I mean for petes sake: The Halo Waypoint community is still a mess of kids, censorship, and bad moderators. Halo 4 took out so many memorable features and completely changed major game mechanics by forcing in ones taken from the CoD series. Microsoft made a terrible decision by putting people in charge who had no idea what made Halo the great game it was. The people from Bungie are vastly outnumbered there.

    • I will only buy it if it is regarded as a good game. I won't buy it on launch, that's for sure. Halo 4 was a bitter disappointment, 343i will need to genuinely win me back over.

    • Yes, for the story. I love the Halo universe. Even though I don't like the way that 343i took with Halo 4. They are trying to fix it with the new playlist and upcoming TU. But I doubt that it will be enough and they will ever take Halo back to it's roots.

    • Well of course. I have purchased every Halo game and have been satisfied with pretty much everything. So until the end of the series, I will keep on spending $60. (Unless I want the limited edition)

    • Of course I'll buy it, its halo, who wont buy Halo? Besides, I guess 343 is taking a new approach on the 5th game, being a darker halo this time, interesting.

    • Yes. 343 made a few bad decisions initially but they are working with the community now and I still have faith.

    • I will definitely buy the next game in the franchise. I've been really impressed by 343 so far, and I was quite literally blown away by Halo 4.

    • I won't buy it just cause it's called "Halo". I won't trust it. I will see gameplay first then I can answer. But at the moment the answer is no.

    • Looking at how 343 has been managing Halo ever since they got their hands on it....... don't think so. 343 were handed the franchise on a silver platter and all they needed to do was polish it. Sadly, 343 decided it was better to change everything for the sake of change. Hell, even the ex-black sheep of the halo heard, Reach, held my interest longer than 4 did.

    • I think a lot of the people in this community are hostile towards 343i because they feel as if they've hijacked and denigrated the Halo franchise. Microsoft owns the IP and they commissioned 343i to continue the series. Given the circumstances, I think 343i did a phenomenal job. Do I think the Halo series should've been shelved for a long period of time after Reach? Yes, but the industry relies too heavily on sequels. Microsoft knew a triumphant return of Master Chief would rake in millions of dollars. So, they chose to continue the series. Bungie was ready to move beyond Halo and it seemed evident in Reach. They began layering unnecessary features on top of their multiplayer formula because they didn't know what else to do with the series. It was time for them to move on. Since Microsoft was intent upon continuing their semi-annualized juggernaut of a franchise, I believe they made the right decision for the series and for Bungie in handing it off to a new developer. Halo 4, in many ways, is fundamentally different. It's a bit more accessible and the story feels more intimate. While I think that Bungie is the king of universe-building (in terms of constructing lore, background elements, and mystery), I think 343i did a much better job of telling intimate stories in-game than Bungie ever did. From my perspective, the production values in Halo 4 were head-and-shoulders above any of its predecessors. The simplest way for me to put it is this: Halo 4 feels fresh. This may seem blasphemous as a Bungie fan, but I think the series was beginning to fatigue and the correct decision was made to hand it off to a new developer. I'll probably get railed for that sentiment, but that's how I feel. Yes, I'll buy Halo 5. 343i has earned my trust with the franchise.

If they don't have a beta for it, than probably not. Seriously, if they didn't realize all the issues Halo 4 had, because of them not putting out a beta, they're not smart at all! I hate to be that way, knowing Halo is such a great game environment and FPS, but 343i's is not a good game developer in my opinion. They know how to make it look really nice and colorful, but the geometry of the maps, and issues with Join-in progress games, is just what I don't like about them. If they can at least make a beta or "Demo" of it, than I'll probably purchase it. If not, I might rent it or simply purchase it when the price drops for the holidays. Just because it's Halo, and to add to the collection of all the Halo games I own.

Only if the Sangheili become sexy once more... Halo 2's or Reach's were both alright to me.
