(Warning: I originally posted the first part of this here on another forum by the name of OpenCarnage.net) Before anyone hops in here talking about why it's so stupid to believe Microsoft would ever put the Halo titles on Steam, hear me out: In the case of both Combat Evolved and Halo 2, all versions of both of these games are going to be out of production soon with no official downloadable version. Putting them on Steam where almost every PC game is bought now with about 5 million users on daily would be a good idea for Microsoft. It would be a waste for them, in a business perspective, to let these titles go to waste when they could still be making money off of it. You then go towards thinking "Well, why don't they put it on the Microsoft Store instead?" That's where the discussion on Halo 3 begins. Obviously Microsoft would want to push the Microsoft Store by adding Halo 3 PC to it, right? They totally haven't tried that before. Oh wait. *Looks over at Halo 2 Vista* Yeah, that worked out extremely well for them, right? I'm sure they've realized there's no fighting Steam. Putting the original trilogy out on PC in full with the new Xbox coming out this year would be an awesome way to keep the legacy of Halo alive. It also wouldn't be directly competing with the new Xbox this way. You could also say there's no real interest in Halo on PC anymore but, from my perspective, this news story is blowing up. You have two separate unannounced brand new titles on that list yet Halo 3 PC seems to be the main story in the media as of right now. Simply put, it makes a hell of a lot more sense to do than people are giving it credit for. As for what I want from Halo 3 on PC: - Proper netcode - Dedicated servers (Possibly matchmaking on the side) - Complete mod support with H3EK and an in game download like HAC2. (or like any Valve game) - Lots of graphical options. - Field of view slider. If I'm stuck with what Halo 3 on Xbox had I'm not even buying the game. - ODST would be nice.
