Posted by: General Heed Well, I have yet to see anybody not able to get Halo 2 Vista to run on a clean retail (non-oem) installation of Windows 7. Now the systems I've seen tested all used an Intel CPU and all either used Intel HD Graphics or nVidia GeForce. AMD components might have a different effect. Anyways, at the very least, a clean install using a retail copy of Windows 7 should fix the problems for most people.
Again, seeing as though you're still missing the point, it's not about if the game simply runs. I'm talking about problems such as frame rate drops and mouse lag. Saying "Well on a clean install it starts up!" is completely off-topic to what everyone was talking about. How many times do I have to repeat myself for you to understand that?
I fully agree Halo 2 Vista has much better graphics overall than the Xbox version. I was just picking out really small details. However, if I recall correctly, a lot of people criticized Halo 2 Vista for it's lack of significant graphical improvements over the Xbox version. I'm not really sure what else could have been improved unless people were expecting improvements similar to Halo Anniversary.
I said Halo 2 Vista on low looks better than Halo 2 on Xbox. (Yes... Even running on the 360)
Just out of curiosity, but do you think it's possible for modders to release a high-res texture pack for Halo 2 Vista? I've seen similar things in Halo PC and I know in many other PC games you can do the same thing. I'm not sure if it's even possible for Halo 2 Vista, though I've seen some pretty impressive mods.
First of all, I don't think anyone cares enough at all to create anything for Halo 2 Vista anymore. Second, it's a bit complicated to create mods for Halo 2 Vista seeing as though Microsoft actively tried to stop modded copies of maps. (According to what I've been told anyway) I'm sure that it's possible but I highly doubt anyone cares about the game enough to do anything. Most people who are well versed enough in modding to do something significant like that are also smart enough to realize there are other better games out there they could spend their time on. :P [Edited on 07.31.2012 8:00 PM PDT]
