New members...
It seems to me, even though I am still a pretty new member, that the newer guys are usually the ones that post pointless or repetitive threads.
In my opinion, this is because they want to be noticed, feel important, I don't know. This usually ends up with extremely redundant threads. I remember when I first joined, I didnt start any new threads because I didn't want to do something stupid, and I was aware that there were a ton of Bungie fans who have probably covered all the topics I could think of at the time.
There has to be some thing that the newer guys can do besides spamming, like be encouraged to use the "Introduce Yourself" thread.
Well, I don't know, I just had to rant.

You don;t have to be nearby to join either of the 2 chapters I linked, Chapter Founders or MSXL. Some chapters are for LAN, some for XBL, and some are chapters for the sake of having a chapter.

some chapters are specifically( can't spell) for a special area. Other chapters have no borders and are open for everyone. Some chapters do indeed organise LAN parties, others do not.

Are these chapters for LAN parties only or will they go across the net? Right now I have a big blue thing between me and everyone else that is called an ocean. So I probibly wont be going to any soon.

Hello Halo maniac and welcome to the forums. I made a post about what the 7th column is and what chapters are. I copied and pasted it. The post is as follows... Chapters are basically... I guess you could call them fan sites. If you click on anyone's profile, you can see what chapters they are a part of. You could join someone else's chapter, make one yourself, or do both. The chapters have forums, news, events, databases, polls, themes etc. The septagon, the forum you are in now, is technically part of the chapter called [url=http://seventhcolumn.bungie.net/perlbin/blam.pl?file=/fanclub/1027 ] Chapter Founders, [/url] a chapter for people who have, well, founded chapters. Newer members like yourself don't really know that, they think its just one of the forums. Basically, all the chapters make up the 7th Column. A search function would cut down on the pointless posts made by new members such as myself, but probably not a lot - a lot of people are too lazy to thumb through all the posts to look for what they need.

I don't think its that they want attention, I think its that they just join up and it is something they have been wanting to talk about so that is the first thing they do, they don't even look at other topics so they don't realize someone beat them to it. I rarely post topics at any forums I am ever at, except my own. You all remember my first (and last) topic here :P (Hey, it had a point. I wanted to know if you could change the timezone thing. The poll was a total waste, though I was just checking out the poll feature. That is all)

Yeah we all need to get out some of our frustration sometimes. But yes I just got finished telling someone to go to that Introduce yourself thread because he posted a thread named "hey" and it said "you all better call the cops..cuz im gunna steal somethin" and everyone was welcoming him and stuff...but I see what your talking about and I totally agree.
