Me personally, and my friends believe the Gravemind was raping cortana with his tenticles. That would explain why she is so blamed up through out the game. It also explains why he kept her in the dome in captivity after he finnished raping her, so he could -blam!- her again! LULZ!
Posted by: RhythmKiller
Posted by: ICEMAN ASSASS1N Seriously though, who knows. They had such a subplot going on there that many fans were speculating what the consequences of Cortana being Gravemind's clutches could lead to. Unfortunately, this turned out to be: *drumroll* Nothing. Kind of a let down, in my opinion.
Totally agree. The problem I have with the story in halo3 is that too many pivotal ideas are just not explored or communicated to the player. I'm not saying in an 'answer all unanswered questions' way, but a basic, 'why is this happening? Why am I doing this?' way.
Exactly what I'm saying. In a way, I kinda.......sorta feel Microsoft may have had a hand in this. Now I'm not an anti Microsoft guy, I actually respect the company (though we know their goal is more money, can't hate 'em for that though it's what we all want.) Anyway, I feel Halo 3 was rushed. Anyone else feel this way? The game is great, please don't get me wrong, but it feels like SO much more could have been included, both in the story and multiplayer. Bungie just left too many loose ends with the story ......a story that was hyped up for two whole years. We didn't see the Forerunner (just heard Sparks call Chief a Forerunner) We didn't see the Halos detonate. Gravemind doesn't even show up (just his tenticles.) Truth barely seemed like a threat. We confront him once and he just gives cryptic (and short) dialogue. I thought we were going to get more from this character. We already went over Cortana/Gravemind There just seemed like so many unanswered questions in Halo 2, and though they were mostly answered in Halo 3, the presentation felt incomplete. It makes me think Bungie wanted more time to get this game perfect (November release?) but through ViDocs we hear them say they got a deadline from Microsoft and was anxious to meet that deadline. Now, why would Microsoft want the game out so early? Marketing. There are some more quality 360 (and Wii) games coming out in the final '07 quarter and I'm sure Microsoft didn't want its big gem to be forced to compete. I dunno, maybe I'm being too paranoid, or maybe it's my lack of sleep (lol) but I feel this game was a bit rushed and Microsoft was pulling the strings (doesn't it seem odd Bungie suddenly decides to seperate after this game launched?) I'm not saying the game is bad, I love this game. But it feels, to me, a bit incomplete.
Posted by: Nhoj07 AvatarofKhorne, being serious for once, I think she was constantly talked to by the gravemind which made her a bit loopy. Forms of data punishments by deleting some of her code would cause her pain. Thats what I really think he did... If you read from the first post you would know it was a joke, between friends and I. I don't really think its funny, but anything said a certain way can be funny. George Carlin is a expart ar making even the most offensive things funny even -blam!-. The sad thing is a lot of people in these forums take things to seriously and should focus more on the topic which asks "What was the gravemind doing to cortana" I honestly rly wanna know :)
See my posts

How does one torture a piece of software?
Like I said previously in this thread, the methods would be the same. Since Cortana is based off the human brain, things like sensory deprivation, humiliation, pain would have similar effects. Cortana would probably have far greater defences than Jenkins, or Keyes in the first Halo, but she would probably have sacrificed parts of herself to Gravemind to protect other parts. He could have used any of her memories to hurt her. Also techniques like power spikes would prob hurt an entity like Cortana ;)

4chan is nice enough but the glut of teenagers on it lately has become most annoying. Odds are the OP of this thread has not passed the age of 16.
