There was a lot of hype for this movie, and some people have said they loved it. A lot of others are saying it's a total travesty and Ridley Scott needs to retire immediately.
So is it worth seeing? Are there any other overhyped movies I should or shouldn't avoid?

I saw it a couple of days ago, and I loved it. Although I have to admit [url=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1byZkbNB3Jw]the trailer[/url] makes the movie look 100000x better than it is, but nonetheless, it was a great movie the whole way through and kept me glued to the screen. The visuals were astounding at times. [b][u]If you watch it, watch it at 1080p.[/b][/u] Also, discovering how exactly the Xenomorphs came to be was extremely interesting. IMO, best movie I've seen this year. [Edited on 10.09.2012 3:54 PM PDT]
