Gears of War: Judgment: The Guts of Gears trailer

Not sure how I feel about this. Looks like a huge GoW 3 DLC to me. Taken from Major Nelson blog:
We announced that you’ll get a copy of the Original Gears of War when you purchase “Gears of War: Judgment” at launch.
• This will probably be a rental at most for me

  • I love GoW, but it definitely should've ended with number 3. I will not be purchasing this.

  • Looks interesting, but not enough to warrant a purchase. I don't like all the stuff they took out/changed but I do like how it appears they took some elements from the horde mode of GoW3 and applied them to the campaign (dynamic defense systems according to the trailer)

  • As a huge Gears of War fan, of both the games and expanded universe, this just looks meh. I honestly have no urge to play this game. Just seems like a glorified Gears 3 DLC with a bunch of features removed.

  • No horde, no purchase.

  • Honestly, I felt that the series should of just ended with GoW 3 and continued on in books. This game looks and probably feels like giant cop out.

    • I'm extremely apprehensive about this game. There's enough lore-breaking content in the first trailer that it's clear they aren't trying to do much with the story, and they've said they intend to make the game less cinematic. On the multiplayer side, they're taking out a lot of what made Gears unique, which just sounds like the usual dumbass corporate decision to go after a demographic that won't play the game anyway. Combined with the fact that Cliffy B has left Epic (and Gears was his baby), I personally will not be buying Judgment unless I hear some pretty high praise for the story. About the only thing left to stamp out concretely is the origin of the humanoid locust, and it would take some pretty involved storytelling techniques to accomplish this in a prequel without invalidating all the other games. However, to me it seems like they're just trying to sell us Gears 3 again, minus the story.

    • I was over Gears of War after the second one. For me, those games are so overrated.

      • I will miss a lot of the old features, like downs, and it sounds like there will be a lot of new stuff to get used to, but overall I'm still really excited for this game.

      • Looks like a cheap imitation of GOW with most of the original content and fun removed

      • I wish this was DLC rather than an entirely new game..

      • Wait a minute... I'm foreseeing complaints about using a sawn-off coupled with a boomshield. Sounds interesting, but I don't think I'll get it.

        • Judgment has and will always be crap. Hell it is far worse than Gear 1 which was for the most part a broken mess. It is almost like the people that made Judgment haven't even played the other Gears games.

        • I saw a gameplay of the MP recently and it seems like they took a lot of features out that Gears used to have. Like downs seem gone and a few other things the hardcore Gears fans are irritated about. To be honest I never liked the down system because everyone would always steal my kills but w/e. We'll see if this game is any better or not. GoW3 is fun for me when I just want to do offline bot matches where I don't have to worry about shotguns around every camping corner.
