Increased time devoted to 'news' requires an increased amount of content to give the illusion of good journalism taking place. Stories of raep, murder and fraud are dime-a-dozen and fill up this content gap very easily. In the past there was a much smaller amount of time devoted to the news, none of this 24 hour stuff, and so only the most important stories were reported (hint: crime didn't get the airtime it does now).[/quote] Hmm interesting.
