Has anyone ever noticed the difference between the two?
How I would define a 'blog post' - A blog post is a long paragraph of the happenings of someone's day / situations they are in, without any discussion value, essentially retarding the other user's posts as 'comments'. The post is often updated by the same user, in a similar style, for the purpose of getting fans / internet publicity.
When I read about 'Blog Posts' in the rules, I think "Well yeah, sites like 'blog.com' and 'tumblr' are great for that, why would you go to a forum to blog?"
But I sometimes see posts on the flood about precarious situations, current frustrations, etcetera. Now, I usually read these posts thoughtfully and they sometimes evoke emotions, empathy, sadness, etc. I like these kinds of threads. Often times I encourage these people, give them advice, or I just leave it alone if they don't need my feedback.
Then while reading through the replies below I see annoying posts below such as 'Yeah, nice blog OP' or, 'Why the -blam!- are you posting this on the flood?'. I'm often frustrated by these people, but I usually just keep my peace. I wondered if the mods ever take action, so I observe those threads while perusing the rest of the flood. I don't usually see the mods take any action against these threads, thankfully. :)
Now I'm no forum cop, so don't mistake me for one, I actually think that the community would be bettered if these threads were more encouraged(As long as they did not melt into blog posts), or at least not discouraged.
What are your thoughts on these types of threads? Do you notice them? How do you think the moderators should be treating them?
