...Destiny will be a MMO. This isn't true because Destiny won't be a server based game. Destiny being a MMO was the oldest rumor about the game and we all know it's not true!
You can play Destiny co-op like Boarderlands but you can also meet random online people who are near you on the map like the PSN-title "Journey" or "Home". Because of this feature (that Ubi's Watchdogs is likely also going to use), the game might feel/sound like a MMO but it isn't one.
Also, current-gen consoles can't handle MMO's

Also, their declaration that it is not an MMO and the use of language like MMO-elements rather than calling it an FPSMMO in the contract makes me think it's not an MMO.
There would be no reason to be coy in the contract between the two companies directly related to the game who know everything about it. If it was an MMOFPS, the contract would've said "MMOFPS" or MMOS or MMOTPS or something that put the stamp of "MMO" on the game rather than putting an asterisk on "action shooter" which notes that the game will have missions and a persistent world.
Also, Bungie would be totally alienating their casual/off-lining fanbase (of which there is a fare amount).

The fact of the matter is we don't know if it will be a mmo or not and neither do you. We can all speculate for now but the truth is that information resides with Bungie and they are holding all info pretty tight right now. I honestly would like to see it become an mmo just to have a great game that will have involvement on a larger scale. But, solely because it is coming on xbox first and pc a year later it is more likely to just have really great multiplayer options.
