Garem's guide to Flood popularity (Updated again)

Hello, everyone. If you've been here as long as I have, you'll notice that a lot of people take popularity on here as a big deal. Now, you're probably wondering, "Well, yeah. I love being popular. But how can I get it?" Just follow these steps, and you'll be instacool: Step One: Get coup. Bnet's default avatars are dull, and everyone uses them. Coup will make you stand out. If you don't use coup, at least use a lesser-known avatar. Step Two: Post often. This should be obvious. Step Three: Break the rules every now and then. The most memorable threads are threads that aren't in line with Bnet's rules. You'll have to break the rules creatively, though. Step Four: Don't be a phony. Mostly everyone on here is one. Not being one will make you stand out. Step Five: Have outrageous opinions. This is a must. Step Six: Don't use memes. Seriously. Step Seven: Claim to be a girl Most Floodians are antisocial. They enjoy communicating with females online to compensate. Step Eight: Spam "do you recognize the user above you" threads. Anyone who says "no" will recognize you afterward. Step Nine: Have a memorable username. A name like "iFarted69" or "FeliciaSucksBlackShaft" is going to get you more attention than "Ron5567" or "HALOFREAK" That's all there is to it. Have a suggestion for another step? Post it in this thread. [Edited on 12.29.2012 12:10 AM PST]

That sentence structure is borrowed from past sources. You're riffing on something that has come before you. We all do it, all the time, only to varying degrees depending on the situation.
But with what I did, I can change the wording. So there is a degree of creativity. With "do you even lift" and "herp derp", you're essentially just copy/pasting the same things.
Don't you see? Originality has nothing to do with "phoniness." Memes are just a tool used to express convictions and sentiments. What matters is whether those convictions and sentinents are honest or feigned in order to please other people.
No, memes are a way for unoriginal people to try to be original. Hence, phoniness.
What does it matter if memes are unoriginal? The point of humor is to make you laugh, not to be original and intelligent. I personally don't care for memes cause I like different stuff but obviously a lot of people like them. If I recall correctly last time I told you this you just said they were annoying as hell to you. Well, they might be annoying but you're gonna have to live with it. You have to live with annoying things. EDIT: Okay, at least the VAST majority of memes are used for humor.
People who find memes funny are the kind of people who think that Step Brothers was funny.
So? I don't see your point. I'm just saying that if people find memes funny then they should probably just continue on because it doesn't matter. I'm saying they shouldn't feel as if what they're enjoying is not original or intelligent enough because it doesn't matter since it's humor. You can enjoy stupid things and still be an intelligent person. You don't like memes? Fine, just let other people enjoy them. That's what I do.
