Happy Halo Day!
It's hard to believe that it's been five whole years since Bungie unleashed Halo on the world! To celebrate this momentous occasion we've got a few small announcements that may be of interest to fans of the series as well as a little screenshot from a game we like to call Halo 3.

Check it out You can see the Marathon logo on the rifle the MC is holding in the new screen shot. What if Bungie was just playing with us and released it next week, that would be pretty trippy. Come on H3.

Best day ever, not just i finish reading the flood(i took me two years to finish it, don't ask me how) but we get news about halo 3, new maps for halo 2 and halo wars, all in one day, and "ONYX", and the halo 3 preview nothing can be better than this. 2007 is going to be the year that "Halo Nation" takes over the world. "i think i just pissed my pants because of all the excitment."

Dang, thats AMAZING!! I loved the update, and loved to hear about the new Halo 2 maps; wonder how many are there. The Halo 3 screen shot was AWSOME, such hi def. I also loved the halo 3 info, especially about the demo. I would also like to give Halo, the best game ever, a happy 5th anniversary. SWEET Update. How can Bungie be SOOOOOOO cool

I am really excited to the 360 now and halo 3. On the other hand, i also think that its not fair that new maps will be available on the 360 only. wasnt Halo 2 made for the first gen xbox? I know its not Bungie's call, i just dont agree with it.

As a steady Halo 2 player on the Xbox, let me say that you guys have pretty well cemented the fact that I'm going to sell my Xbox and buy a Wii. Creating new maps for Halo 2 and only putting them on 360 is pretty big slap in the face of the people who've really supported Bungie and Xbox. So when you make it so I can't join up and play with my friends or play matchmaking online because I can't load the maps, I'll go back to playing free user mod multiplayer maps on PC games. Just because you coundn't get Halo 3 out in time to support the next gen. console with a good next gen game doesn't meet that all those hundreds of thousands of supporters will be jumping to buy those 360's gathering dust at wal-mart. I'll be the first to admit that i'd have probably bought a 360 this summer if there had been a good next gen game out there(halo 3). So for some unknown reason I'm going to preorder Wii, because there's an exclusive and single console game out there I want to play.(zelda). One day you guys will realize that people buy systems to play games. I still can't believe microsoft/bungie couldn't get Halo 3 out in time to support 360 release. You actually would have had a chance to get ahead of Sony and Nintendo. Now you're going to let Nintendo pass you guys with a less powerful console.

Why now? Why couldn't this have happend when i still played halo 2? I do love how bungie is keeping things fresh, but new maps has never been the REAL problem, cheating has. I own a 360, but why are the maps 360 only? The whole thing seems to be backwards, because people that buy a 360 learn that Halo 2 isn't the only good game out there. People that don't have a 360 still play the crap out of halo 2, so who punish them? With gears of war, call of duty 3, splinter cell, and rainbow six all out (or coming) I really don't think I'll buy them. But thanks anyway.

Well what can i say. Bungi did it again. Theyy made another good game. Its graphics kills and gameplay kills. I feel like killing myself if i dont get to play halo3. Its is very tempting to wait. The idea of the new halo maps is great. Also the idead that there is no more modding and glitching is also good. The only thing i want to know is if there will be people stand by-ing so i kow what to play and when to play so i dont get cheated. Can someone clear that up for me. Well thats all. I would like to thank the bungie pople for doing such a great good and keep it up. HALO OWNS ALL.

This is great news, I'd never thought a CG commercial would come to mind, sounds kick ass if you ask me. But one thing that still bothers me. In the Halo 3 trailer, it shows the Master Chief having a golden armor, why is he green now? Maybe its an earlier level than the level shown in the trailer =/ And I don't know if anyone mentioned this, but there is a Marathon logo right above the trigger of the Assault Rifle....stupid easter eggs :P [Edited on 11/15/2006]

Okay, I think some ignorant people here need to either reread the article or get their heads out of their asses. Bungie has NO CONTROL over how downloads work in this setup. The new maps are available for 360 download only because M$ has shifted xbox live, for the most part, onto the 360. This means that new downloads and such are only available on the Xbox live marketplace, a feature not available on the old xbox consoles. It is unfortunate, and I am with the old xbox users on this one (I have a 360 but halo 2 never felt right on a 360 controller; The rumble sucks, and the 360 mic setup blows (I want the on/off switch to be compatable with all mics, not just the house brand.) I went back to using my old school Xbox for halo 2, and await h3 for the 360 with its updated control scheme to make proper use of the rb/lb) but seriously, saying you are disappointed with bungie over this is bull-blam-. In other news... the maps themselves are quite a nice surprise. Bungie has the kind of connection with its fan base, and the dedication, to keep going for years forward. I hope to one day work for a game company comparable to bungie (or maybe bungie? anything is possible I suppose) in terms of dedication to its fanbase. GO BUNGIE! Happy HALO DAY! WOO! The beta will probably be a xbox live demo download, but it is 'offically' a 'beta' simply because they wont just let you play, they will monitor everything done for use in finishing up the game. Yet another fine point of them, not just a demo, but using it for fan feedback, is ingenious. Not many game companys have this kind of integration with its fans. Finally, the on button is HIL-arious.

Bungie you poor poor souls. Its High Definition. That means the picture reveals everything!!! I now know the to Halo 3! Apparently the Mastercheif has to stop the covenant. But we all know that. Its what that this picture reveals!!! And with that info I will guess at the story! Apparently the covenant only wanted one thing! To get access to the lost human treasure... of... MARATHON 7 (Seven is greater then infinity, infinity plus three plus four plus ten equals Seven.). Its located deep in the Earth's crust in a rusty compound called the Venticore (in forerunner, it means Ark). The Mastercheif must stop them lest... Durendal gets out! Apparently the events of the Marathon series were true... and Durendal infected the Bungie computers so that he could do something... He helped them release three games, and almost a fourth. But Bungie discovered him, and his intent to take over the world (which he has imprinted on them...) but infecting all computers via Marathon 7. But they didn't let it get out. Until now. The Venticore is actually a collection of multidimensional portals to a rusty compound deep under Earth. The game revels this in Cortana's messages, and she gets there with the Gravemind. Her intent? To date Durendal!!! So she attempts to stop the Cheif after she learns of his orders, getting several soldiers Born On Board a ship to help. But the Mastercheif kill all the BOBs and makes his way deep into the compound so that he may "Frogblast the Venticore" and prevent Marathon 7 from getting out. In the process he fights flood and covenant as he makes his way in. But Cortana captures him, and forces him to play the first three games of Marathon. He gets out of the compound, and captures Cortana and Durendal. He destroys it, and leaves. It is in the closing credits that Durendal reveals to the cheif that he still has a copy of Marathon 7. The Mastercheif then takes off his helmet off screen, and you hear Durendal gasp. "I knew he got here too... but no human could have lived for several trillion ye-" The radio shouts over Durendal. "Mastercheif, do you read? This is Fleet Admiral Smith. Do you have the AI's in custody?" The chief says "Yes, sir." "Good, I have something to tell you. I am your ---" Cuts off there as the screen goes black. Halo 3 ends.

I got my fingers crossed, Bungie always does come through sooner or later in one way or the other. It'd be great if these maps could be in a patch or even INCLUDED in "halo 2" Vista :D
