Bungie Weekly Update
A light update this week, but with heavy news about stuff that's happening next week, which, coincidentally is the birthday of the original Halo for Xbox. Coincidence? Nothing is a coincidence.

I think a female spartan voice would be awesome, but you guys should totally get a female spartan character model to go with it. Maybe like the model from DOA4??? I have a few chicks on my friends list all decked out in pink and purple armor that I know would sport the female spartan. Cheers!

I am a woman gamer, and I wholeheartedly support a decision to provide gamers the option to choose a female voice for their character. However, it's more than a bit patronising that you're asking women to "approve" something that should be included in a game _by default_. How is providing more choices to gamers, e.g. the ability to customise their avatar by providing the option of a female voice, a wrong, or in any way, a controversial decision? Why do you need approval for such a no-brainer?

Let's start off as...I am a chick. I don't like the idea of a female Spartan voice. Maybe if it was Kelly but I don't really know. I have gotten into some hearsay about there being one more Halo novel about what happens after Halo 3...BTW...Ghosts of Onyx is awesome!!! I loved it from the very first page.

Mmmm, female Spartan voice. Yes, please. Yes, yes, we all know that the Master Chief is all man, but this is NOT Master Chief we're talking about here. Do you think all those Spartans running around on Live are Master Chief? No. Those are other Spartans. And since there are females playing Spartans, there should be a female Spartan to reflect that in the multi-player world. Thanks, Bungie! Me love you long time.

im a dude and i think u should have a female spartan that looks like a female and sounds like one it would be fun i have some female friends that like halo and it would be kool for them to be able to choose one and i know this is off topic but plz KEEP THE ELITES ON MULTIPLAYER THEY LOOK KOOL AND I KNOW THEY WOULD LOOK TIGHT ON THE MULTIPLAYER ON THE 360

In the pic with Valhalla the weapon is no longer on the ground, but in one of those cases the pelicans drop like in halo 2. cool By the way, the graphic are sweet even for that quality of pic.

I think there should be female voices and even female spartan armor added to Halo 3. Anything to get my wife to play is a good thing. Nice update, can't wait for the next one! Any chance for a release quarter, sping, summer, fall?

Give me my goddamn K-Bar now (even though it wouldn't be any good against Elites). And yeah the girl Spartan sounds cool but it would probably lead to a lot of ant-girl stuff on Live (dumb teabaggin whore, etc.) It's a good idea, though.

[/quote] certain things are not thought out enough. a perfect example is what this 1 kid has to say. Kids like this are like rats, where theres 1, theres a thousand. I suggest you rethink the Idea of a female voice. People are already turning Halo 3 into a joke, and it is not even released yet. It is a great idea, but imagine the girly names, and very "Vulgar" language that will arise from this, 1 word that comes to mind is the "C" word. And the things these kids would say after killing a girl like..."Get back in the Kitchen -blam!-", i think eventually you will have the girls using the boy voice and the boys using the girl voice..... I do look forward to the new game and the big announcements this week, and I hope now that the AR is still fully automatic but with midrange power that it wont be anything like the starting weapon in GOW, cause that's fully automatic short and midrange, and we would have already been playing with a weapon like that for over a year...oh but it has a chainsaw on it....which i want to point out is pretty darn "Original" and a hell of alot of fun!

This combat knife idea was viciously debated in other forums. one thing to think about is that a knife cant penetrate Spartan/Elite armor.

I just got the new novel last night and I've only stopped reading it to check the internet right now. I also got the EGM magazine...and I have to wonder, is it wrong to giggle like a little kid waiting to open his Christmas presents? Because I seem to do every time I hear some new info about Halo 3. And I'm curious to hear what the female voice would be like, because I may feel a little weird beating down someone to hear a female grunt or scream as a result. To bad Carnage is getting taken out, my friend and I enjoyed most of those matches because they were objective based. And if it is getting dropped, will some gametypes be put in other playlist (maybe even Warthog CTF ::hint hint::) And for a second I tought there would be a picture or a GIF showing the new water or maybe the waves. I'm a big fan of water effects too and I would have to say my favorite effect would be the water dripping from the camera in Conker:Live and Reloaded, and I was wondering if it would be possible to have that similar effect run down your visor after getting out of the water or from getting splashed from a nearby explosion, just to add to the realism.

I have to agree with Direkitten that a female spartan voice in the stories is not really what we would be jumping for. We love the masterchief and don't mind playing as him through campain. Having a female spartan on multiplayer would be neat. Even though it would cause alot of confusion (guys picking a female spartan and pretending to be one ...Wishfull thinking). But I do know some girls who are more feministic than me and would die to play as a female on Halo. It would always be a plus, an extra. Like, you can decide to play as a female or male. So it is a win-win . But I soooo totally agree on the strong voice. If she would have the voice of a Barbie no one'd take her serious. Covenant and Flood would just laugh at her and wonder why she wouldn't pound them KO with her pink purse. She has to have a strong voicce that is yet female but that expresses and authority and determination. I dunno, but when I say strong woman I always have to think of Lara Croft from Tombraider III . Strong, sensual and kicking ass voice. But I soooo woul NOT like to see a Lara Croft spartan walking around. Just average muscled female version of a spartan will do for me and will satisfy more girls than a skinny spartan you can pull through the eye of a needle. Make her the new role model for girls ;)

Nice update, but please(and i'm not trying to be mean/rude): don't give a playlist update unless it includes the bringing back of 1v1 or CLAN MATCH. These new unranked gametypes are fun, and Team SWAT is a blast, but clanmatch was the sole purpose of clans in the firstplace, right? Nowadays, clans are rotting in the back of the halo universe as School Clans, or Production Clans (as myself is in). In my point of view, having clans with no clanmatch is a torture Ninja is putting on the players of Halo 2 Xbox live. Everytime I look at my clan list, i sigh and wonder where that little level at the top right of the screen went. Anyways, solid update and hope to see some massivly informitive tidbits of Halo 3 next week!
