Old and historied private groups and Bungie.next

As a relatively old member, I belong to some older private groups. Many of them (of those still alive) have been wondering how they'll be affected by Bungie.next. Obviously the biggest question is whether or not Bungie.next will even have private groups, because as far as I'm aware nothing's been mentioned. Assuming the answer to this is even yes, the next biggest question is whether groups and member lists will be imported. Or, for that matter, if users will even have the same login credentials or accounts. Even though many members are in contact over other media, many others aren't. We would like them to be able to find us again, because old friends and stuff, and it's probably too short notice to collate a mailing list or something as the summer rush is long over and an unfortunate amount of awesome people won't return until next summer. I understand that Bungie is trying to be all super sekret about B.next, but some confirmation of what we need to do to preserve our groups would be appreciated. Trying to retroactively net as many people as we can, dragging them wherever we end up, and hoping not too many slip through the cracks is not a very ideal solution.

 • I think they'll add more options for group memberships and ranks.

 • I doubt Bungie would remove a piece of history that easily. There may be changes, but definitely not removal. [Edited on 01.08.2013 1:01 AM PST]

 •
Posted by: r c takedown I would really really like to see an overhaul of the group system. One of the main reasons why certain private groups moved offsite is because of the very limited functions of private groups, and the lack of ease of use when it came to larger groups. I think it would be in the best interest of bungie to revitalise the private group system, so hopefully they acknowledge that and give us something.
Totally agree with this, I was a member of a group that moved offsite, but I was so used to being in here I didn't really follow them, I do still play Xbox with them though.
Yeah I agree, don't worry I think there should be - after all its for a completely new game title and there going to what users making there own groups for online play, discussion and to take a little heat from the board

 • I highly doubt Bungie would do such a heinous thing as to risk losing so many of their most loyal fans by depriving them of Bungie's own unique form of connection with their friends and allies. Private groups are a major part of Bungie.net, and will be for a very long time. While the groups may be changed with the arrival of bungie.next, I can't even begin to fathom a situation in which private groups are any less of an influence on the community as they are now.
