So in the rules it states that it is a ban-able offense to create an account to avoid a ban. Nowhere in the rules however does it say that is wrong to have another account. I love my username and I have made some internet friends while on this site. However when I first arrived here I was a huge douche and my rap sheet is long.
I am considering creating another account and starting clean. My question is, do you think Bungie will wipe our slates clean when Bungie.next arrives or should I just keep my main account?
If this is considered avoiding a ban I am sorry and I won't go through with this.

Why do people think they have to ask to create another account? Just go on ad do it already, nobody area as long as you aren't breaking any rules.

And specifically creating a new account to start over is perfectly fine. Just don't create ones for nefarious purposes.
no nefarious purposes are intended at all. I am also approaching 2 years on this account and like I said I love my username.
Just stay with your current account. Especially if you love the username. If you're worrying about people scrolling through your post history to see what kind of person you are, don't, that doesn't happen, and if it does, WE HAVE ALL at one point, been someway we frown upon right now. Maybe some of us were trolls, I know I had attrocious spelling and grammar which I wish I could undue. If you're worried about your forum title, don't be. I'm sure your 2 years here will do much better for you than a new account without a ban history.

I don't want a clean slate, I made a few slip-ups, but I've never been banned and I want that history to stay.

Your shame will be always with you.
Posted by: Sven Nietzsche Trust me when I say this, just stay on your main account.
Yeah. It's worth it, because everyone learns to recognize you and probably won't judge you off of your past posts as most people don't look into other people's accounts that much. Your name, on the other hand, is what people are most likely to judge you by. I can't tell you how many times I've posted something and all someone does is quote my name.
Posted by: Coxx153 don't worry about creating a new account, I did.
It's a throw up between a better name or a better title, doesn't matter at the end of the day.

don't worry about creating a new account, I did.

Not a bannable offense. Whenever I created a new GT back in the day I'd also create a B.net account so I could link it. I'm still signing in on two of those alts every now and then to keep them alive. They're both Exalted and they've both been mythic at one point or another (when I spent a few days on them).
-
Do whatever you want. It's not against the rules to have alts unless you're banned.

This site is full of alts. I see no harm in creating another one.
Posted by: Nick Saban It is me T1d3. Still haven't decided whether or not I am going to use this account. My rap sheet is long as in over 20 bans and warnings, I have changed a lot and that is not me. While my title isn't necessarily important to me, how I am viewed and received by the community is. I have made some friends on here, but I have also made plenty of enemies
So, you think bans and warnings matter to us? All that matters is whether or not you act like a decent person or a jerk, whether you are helpful or harmful. That's it. Old account, new account, neither matters. Do positive things, and you shall be viewed positively (except by jerks). The choice is yours. Make it and stick to it. [Edited on 01.06.2013 4:22 PM PST]

I lost my Noble Heroic Member title this summer, and look at me! Back to Heroic. I think you should stick with your main account, unless you aren't attached to it like I am. Who knows! You might become Mythic one day!

Judging how rapid the community has grown over the years, I honestly doubt there will be any 'clean slates' on Bungie.next. Creating a new account just to get rid of your ban history seems a bit silly. Aside from the moderators, you're the only one who sees it. We've all done things in the past; it's history. You learn from your mistakes and move on.
-
I considered this at one point as well, it's not worth it. It doesn't matter who you were back then what matters is who you are now. Just use your current sccount and use those bans as a reminder, OP.
-
The only way for a mod to find out your account is an alt is if you tell them.
-
We all have our pasts. I have a few bans on this account from my days of immaturity, and you can clearly see that I recovered from it. :D I would say stay on your main account!

Similar to you, my first two or three years on this account were awful; I was a prick to a lot of people. It takes only time to be nice and rebuild relationships on an internet forum. I've stepped out of the game a bit the past few years, but for a while I was a veryrecognized name on the forums. People knew me. You don't need a new account to be a good, respected member.
