The setting is when the US constitution is being signed. You are teleported there in what you're wearing now. And you have the knowledge of what you know from history.
What two things would you say to the founders of the US?

However, the establishment clause also means that the government can not endorse, or promote any one religion over others. The idea that the first amendment was designed to create a wall of separation between church and state comes from a letter from Thomas Jefferson stating that that's what it means. It should also be noted that freedom of religion also includes freedom from religion.
Posted by: Gaara444 ....Sort of. Yes and No. Let me give you an example on where it's flawed and where it's good: Tim and Bob get married in....Americavania. Americavania has Same-Sex marriage legalized and full benefits to any marriage in their borders. So Tim and Bob move to....Bigotbama. Bigotbama does not have Same-Sex marriage legalized. The Defense of Marriage Act lets Tim and Bob stay a married couple in Bigotbams, but all the benefits they got from Americavania will not go with them as long as Bigotbama decides not to give those benefits to them.
Posted by: Marinade Okay. I do only have one more question then. Does the Defense of Marriage Act prohibit same-sex couples from receiving federal benefits regardless of what their state's laws are?

Okay, thanks.

1. Abolish political parties. They'll do nothing but cause trouble and slow down the entire system. 2. Everyone is a human. The blacks, the whites, the Asians, the Latin races, the Native Americans, the Jews, the Muslims, the gays, the straights, the men and the women. They are all humans, and as such they all deserve the same rights and constitutional protection as the other.
Posted by: Gaara444 The actual Marriage itself is yes, a Federal issue. I should have been more clear. The process of getting Married however is a State issue. You need a marriage license to get married. The Federal Government does not care who gets married, just like they don't care who get's to legally drive. So that issue is brought up to the States to deal with.
Posted by: Marinade Just a point of curiosity, aren't there federal benefits from being married? I don't know. Both act completely out of bonds to me. You have Republicans do everything they can stay rich and keep poor people poor, and you have the Democrats who keep trying to abolish personal Wealth. Neither side can agree on anything with the other. They never compromise on any issue.
Posted by: St Major Dan Fair enough. Though I disagree with you.
Convince them to have equal rights for everyone. No matter their race or gender. I think that would help quite a bit with history.
