Because Halo 4 sucks.
When Halo Reach came out, Halo 3 was awesome and Halo Reach sucked. When Halo 3 came out, Halo 2 was awesome and Halo 3 sucked. Anyone starting to get the picture? This happens everytime a new game comes out; people point out its flaws and do nothing but whine how its different from the previous installment.
It's to the point where my mind's boggled. My mind's boggled because people go out and pay 60+ dollars for a game that they're just going to knock. I'm not going to say that you should suck it up and enjoy a game that you dislike but why are you wasting your money when you know you're going to hate the game anyway? Furthermore, what ever happened to people enjoying a game for the gameplay that it offers?
I'll just leave this here and read the responses when I get back from school. Don't disappoint me, Flood.
Posted by: xH u 7V tt 3 R it was for a new fan base that they probably haven't even gained.
They got their money, but judging by the population figures it looks like 343 failed to get their attention, and they may have lost a lot of the Halo fans in the process. It'll be interesting to see what happens with Halo 5 if Halo 4 doesn't have a game-saving TU like 2 and Reach did. It'd probably sell like hot cakes anyway.

I thought Reach was a good game, I had a lot of fun with it. But by no means did I ever think it was better than Halo 3. Halo 3 is my favorite multiplayer game ever. And when Halo 3 came out, over time I though the campaign was a little worse than 2's, but never bashed it into oblivion like people are now with Halo 4. But Halo 4 deserves all the -blam!- it's getting. 343 knew fans wouldn't like this. They weren't doing it for the fans, it was for a new fan base that they probably haven't even gained.

Played Reach last night for the first time in about 4 months. Had a blast. Didn't buy Halo 4, so can't compare, but I got a kick out of the comments from Halo 4 players on my team: "Hey it's so cool that I can pick up grenades" "One flag, yeah let's play that, it's not in Halo 4" "Assault! I miss that" "Objective in BTB?" "Without instant respawn, my shields recharge!" "I always forget to hit the respawn button and end up sitting there" "No one has a boltshot"

Well for me it went like this. Halo CE (PC) It was a very fun game and had a great campaign, after all it was the first impression and the universe got me caught in, as such I keep playing Halo up to this day and multiplayer was awezome I still play Halo CE custom edition up to this date just for the multiplayer. Halo 2: A good continuation of the original story, I really enjoyed it and the addition of Matchmaking was great, however it did have its flaws, as it has allready been mentioned there were lots of button glitchers (BXR comes to mind) and modders and basically to get to the highes tlevels you had to be a modder, but when you had a game without modders the multiplayer was quite enjoyable, the maps were good and the game was fast paced. Halo 3: The story was decent, campaign wise it was a bit short, Multiplayer was great and the additions of forge and theater were quite nice. The multiplayer seemed a bit slower than H2 but it was still good. Halo Reach: The campaign was decent but not as epic as the previosu 3 games, sure graphics were bette rand all but thats about it, Multiplayer wise it was dcent but way slower than the previous Halo games, the addition of AA's was also a terrible idea but in the end I still enjoyed and enjoy Reach. Halo 4: WTF happened here? the campaign seemed rushed as if 343i anted to stuff so much into the short campaign that many thigns were left unexplained and you had to watch the terminals videos to a tleast get a graps of what was going on (It didnt help that the terminals arent viewable IN GAME) the gameplay is just ugh.. it doesnt feel like Halo it feels more like a CoD / Crysis 2 hybrid. Theater sucks now, you cant have a list of replays in queue so if you did somethign cool and want to save it you need to leave matchmaking save the video and start anotehr game or its lost, also no theatre for Spartan Ops and Campaign. Server issues constantly and lag, also blackscreens are worse than in previosu Halos. Another thing I liked about Halo was that everyone started on even ground, you had to FIGHT for power weapons and control the map, nwo yu can just sit back picking off shots and then have a power weapon delivered to you wich IMO is a bad idea (Thus why I prefe rplaying Slayer Pro) still H4 multiplayer has failed to keep me interested in the game. Sorry it is not nostalgia but Halo 4 is just... meh /Opinion

I play Halo: Reach, I don't play Halo 4.
-
Reach will always suck, no matter how bad Halo 4 or future Halo games will be.
-
Reach's flaws were generally in it's mechanics, where with Halo 4 it's more in the area of excess features muddling up otherwise good core gameplay. You know what they say, 'too many cooks spoil the broth'. If they tweaked some of the weapons a bit (7sk Carbine anyone?), did away with ordnance drops (or better yet release a Classic Playlist), and release some new maps, I think the game would improve exponentially.
-
I would think it is just so they can say they were "ripped off". I still like the gameplay, but I do think it needs just a few changes to make it better. Note that I think it could be made better, not that it should be forsaken.
-
I've liked Reach ever since it came out. Of course I have a few stuff to nitpick at, but it was still a good game IMO Halo 4 is pretty okay too, if a bit disappointing
-
>>REACH is released "OMAGERD THIS GAME IS F***ING BROKEN THE AA'S AND WEAPONS ARE NOT BALANCED THE MAPS SUCK THE CAMPAIGN IS BORING HALO 3 WAS SO MUCH BETTER THAN THIS GARBAGE I'M GOING BACK TO HALO 3" >>Halo 4 is released "OMAGERD THIS GAME IS F***ING BROKEN THE AA'S AND WEAPONS ARE NOT BALANCED THE MAPS SUCK THE CAMPAIGN IS BORING REACH WAS SO MUCH BETTER THAN THIS GARBAGE I'M GOING BACK TO REACH" >>Halo 5 is released "OMAGERD THIS GAME IS F***ING BROKEN THE AA'S AND WEAPONS ARE NOT BALANCED THE MAPS SUCK THE CAMPAIGN IS BORING HALO 4 WAS SO MUCH BETTER THAN THIS GARBAGE I'M GOING BACK TO HALO 4" etc...
Posted by: What Is This1 One problem with that Halo 3 was better than 2.
I prefer Halo 2.
-
I wouldn't say "Great". It was good, but not great. Some of the core mechanics were nothing short of frustrating. They did some good things for forge, however most of the changes they made were found by the community as glitches, and Bungie simply made them not be glitches anymore (Ghost merging anyone?)
-
Each Halo game (in the FPS genre) has been better than the last. Each one has been an improvement.
-
People play like complete a**holes in Halo 4.
-
I haven't even played Halo 4 and think Halo: Reach was mediocre. So was ODST.
-
Already established logic.

2 is better than 3, but 3 is still a good game. 3 is better than Reach, and Reach is just okay (after the title update, it was awful before). Reach still played like a Halo game, just with a retarded bloom and armor ability system. People complained that they preferred 2, but they kept playing 3, and had fun, even if it was less fun than they might have had on 2. People didn't play Reach, a lot of them thought it was worse than alternatives out there or stayed on Halo 3. With 4 we're seeing the same thing again. Halo players would rather play a different game than play Halo 4, because it's not even worth their time. Halo 4's population is now lower than Halo Reach's was after 6 months, and people were saying how Reach had failed for dropping that quickly. Seeing something awful does make you appreciate the good qualities of something bad, like how sleeping in a run-down house seems nice after sleeping on the street. It doesn't mean we magically think the run-down house is equal to the semi-detached or the mansion. I really don't think most people are calling Reach a good game. Everyone I know is just sad that Halo 4 is even worse.

As soon as a new game comes out, the previous one was the greatest game on the face of the earth. That aside, Retch is utter garbage.
