So today I saw a police officer parked in a yellow "no parking zone" But he wasn't responding to an emergency, He was at a 7-11 and he walked out with a big gulp.
He was abusing his status as a police officer. And this is how I am about to knock him down a level for it.
I live in Oregon. In Oregon it is a little known fact that you don't have to be a police officer, or a parking attendant to write someone a parking ticket. See ORS 153.058
Now back to the story. as the officer was coming out as soon as I saw that he was parked illegally I took a picture of him ( as he was coming out holding his big gulp, and of his car parked illegally. AND of him getting into his car.
This is all of the evidence that I need to issue him a citation.
I went on down to the police station and initiated the proceedings of filing the citation. Filled out his ticket, and took it down to the court house as per the instructions. At the courthouse I gave the nearly-finished ticket to the clerk who found an available court date. And then signed the ticket. And took an oath that the information was correct.
This police officer is now going to receive the ticket in the mail with his court date. I will also be going to this court date where I will be presenting the photographic evidence of his illegal parking. He will have no excuse.
tl;dr I wrote a police officer a ticket, and now he must appear in court.
UPDATE: 500 replies w00t, I will be posting the pictures AFTER the court date. Due to legal/security reasons.
Posted by: funkbrotha10
Posted by: AK FROST You did all of this so the officer gets a 20 dollar ticket wow.
Exactly right. Not just that. But chances are the other police officers will hear about it and will never let him live it down. And as I have also discussed its the symbolism behind the ticket that matters more than the actual ticket in this case.
This idiot seriously thinks he's making a statement. And I can't wait to see you in a position where you need the cops and they let you rot, because I guarantee he will get the word out about you. In the eyes of the PD, you'll be that one idiot who tried to make a "statement" by giving someone a ticket and wasting their resources and time.
Posted by: funkbrotha10 ( and fail doing it making him look like a tard )
Yes, that's exactly what's going to happen here.
Posted by: funkbrotha10 Exactly right. And as I have also discussed its the symbolism behind the ticket that matters more than the actual ticket in this case.
How old are you, seriously? "Never let him live it down?" Are you serious? It's a god damn ticket. No one will give a crap. At all.

I personality think the OP did a right thing. GG.
Posted by: Xplode441 OP is a juvenile delinquent who doesn't like police officers. But seriously, why go through all that trouble for something so minor? The cop wasn't abusing his power unless he told you, "-blam!- you, I'm a cop, I park where I want". He made the same mistake anyone else could have made. To call it an abuse of power is stupid.
The police officer was parked in a yellow emergency zone parking area. The police officer was not responding to an emergency. There were no spots open in the parking lot, which influenced his decision to park in the emergency zone. Therefor, his actions were abuse and a violation of the law. His attitude does not determine whether its abuse. His actions do. its as simple as that. [Edited on 11.17.2012 5:52 PM PST]

You sure showed him! That evil cop had no idea what was coming to him. How dare corrupt cops like him do something like that when civilians probably do the same thing anyways! SCREW DA POELEAC! /sarcasm
Posted by: funkbrotha10 Pretty much. Police officers think that they can do whatever they want.
[Edited on 11.17.2012 5:52 PM PST]

I wouldn't be surprised if the state paid it for him, if he was still on duty, anyway.

You're a douche.
Posted by: randomrosso What I find funny about this thread is that the OP is serious. Like that ticket actually means something. Seriously. Plus I love how the fact that a Police Officer did something minor (that a lot of normal people do regularly, I might add) automatically means he is "abusing his status".
Its not exactly the ticket. Its the symbolism behind the ticket. I, as a non-authority figure citizen have issued him the ticket. And now, he must appear in court and try to defend himself ( and fail doing it making him look like a tard )

hahaah sweet

It's the Rodney king trials all over again. Damn police.

I would not recommend going to the court date and giving away your identity.
There is nothing that the police officer can do to me that isn't a further violation of the law. I am absolutely going to the court date to have him fined.
Further showing how pathetic the OP is. And what's funny is he thinks the officer can't make his life harder.
There is nothing that the police officer can do to me that isn't a further violation of the law.
Just because he's violating the law doesn't mean that he can't do anything to make your life worse.
Posted by: funkbrotha10
Posted by: Sgt monkey41 Wow going out of your way to -blam!- with someone who devotes their life to protect you. I hope you're happy.
He parked illegally. Which is blatant misappropriation of his authority. Police officers are not exempt from the law. Had he been responding to an emergency I of course would not have wrote him the citation. But he was getting a soda from 7-11
So what? He wasn't hurting anyone. Now he has to pay a fine and might even lose his job. All because you think all cops are corrupt, but in reality he's probably and honest guy who puts his life at risk daily to protect -blam!-s like you.
Posted by: funkbrotha10
Posted by: Aang the Avatar LOL at people attacking the OP for doing the right thing.
Very typical flood response. However police officers are still held to the same standards that citizens are. He was not responding to an emergency. Therefor his actions are in violation of the law.
You're seeing in black and white here. In a perfect world, yes. That statement would be true. Ever heard the phrase "It's not what you know but who you know"? They have more friends in high places than you do. They can and will get away with a lot more than you my friend.
Posted by: Aang the Avatar LOL at people attacking the OP for doing the right thing.
Because writing a ticket and wasting an officers time is the right thing. He could be doing something important, but now he has to appear in country because some kid thinks he's being cool and rebellious.

How many other parking citations have you attempted to issue? I doubt this is the first violation you've ever seen. Have you gone through this trouble for all illegal parking situations you've come across?

Yeah? I've seen a Police officer run a redlight to go to McDonalds and buy himself a Big Mac in the Drive-Thru. Talk about abusing power.
Posted by: Aang the Avatar LOL at people attacking the OP for doing the right thing.
You'd be mad if you got a ticket too. People don't like police officers, and the OP acted like one. It's understandable. [Edited on 11.17.2012 5:44 PM PST]
