By this, I mean, rank the rules, from most important to avoid breaking, to least important to avoid breaking. I'll post them below so you can see them and quote for ranking glory. Don't feel the need to put them ALL in order, but it wouldn't hurt.
1. Bungie controls everything.
- Do not impersonate others (with your posts or user profile)
- Do not advocate cheating or griefing behavior.
- Leaked content (including magazine scans), real or fake, will not be tolerated.
- Do not discuss unauthorized modification of console game hardware or software, even if you're not trying to cheat or pirate.
- Political or religious discussion is prohibited.
- When creating new threads, please be sure to post in the correct forum. Do not post off-topic in any forum or thread.
- Do not use the public forums to run contests, solicit donations, barter or sell items/services, or advertise anything at all (except on-topic posts in the Classifieds forum).
2. You have no rights.
- We reserve the right to remove you from the forums for any reason, but probably only if you deserve it. You agreed to this when you created your account.
- Ban lengths are not necessarily identical for users who commit the same offense, context and the user involved matter. Nobody cares about your forum title.
- If you disagree with a moderating decision, send the Forum Ninja responsible a message (check this article for tips).
3. Play nice, don't be a jerk.
- Use common sense. This is a video game developer's website. Keep your posts on-topic and "safe for work". The further you stray the more you'll tempt a ban.
- Respect your fellow members, or at least tolerate them publicly. Harassment of any kind will not be tolerated, even if they probably deserve it.
- "Spam" is prohibited. (What counts as spam?)
- Do not post about any illegal substances or activities.
- Do not post false information or mislead other forum-goers. Yes, even if it is funny.
- Do not post spoilers or even pretend spoilers without clearly marking them.
- Do not bypass the profanity filter. (Helpful Link)
- New threads should encourage a discussion among the community; please be mindful of that when you create threads.
-
Do not post spoilers or even pretend spoilers without clearly marking them.
There really isn't anything else in that whole list that grinds my gears except for this.

I would have it in the order of 3, 1, 2. Although 1, and 2 are very similar. [Edited on 11.11.2012 4:38 PM PST]

1. play nice, dont be a jerk 2. play nice, dont be a jerk 3. play nice, dont be a jerk
Posted by: coolmike699 Don't post anything illegal. Don't post personal information, scams, links to shock sites, etc. Play nice, don't be a jerk.
Yeah, I like this order personally.

Don't be a jackass and you won't get banned.
-
No posting NSFW content. I'd assume that would be obvious.

Isn't the point of rules that it's equally important that none of them are broken?
-
Posted by: A 3 Legged Goat 1. Don't make Achronos mad
By proxy, that means: Don't say anything good about Google Chrome.
-
In the case of Bungie.net, I do not see any rule more or less important. As it is not difficult to reframe from breaking these rules, I personally feel that they all are of equal importance, and they should all submit their perpetrators to equal punishments. While I feel this way about the rules on the kind of scale it is, I am under no delusions that in the real world, there are certain laws that are more important than others.

Bold makes it look so harsh. I choose this.
Posted by: Make117 1. You have no rights.
1. Don't Make fun of Bricypoo, ever.
-
Posted by: the real Janaka Bungie's heart... Cause then they won't be able to love us.

Posted by: acnboy34 "Use common sense" should be the most important rule for everyone to follow.
1. Bungie controls everything. 2. You have no rights. 3. Play nice, don't be a jerk. Does that make me a mythic now?!
Posted by: edableshoe classic mythic response. you all are the same. >_>
Bungie's heart... Cause then they won't be able to love us.
-
I think I'm tied between... All of them.
-
Those aren't even rules. How the hell am i suppose to break "I have no rights"?
-
I rank "Play nice" as number one because really, as long as you can follow that one rule, you should never need worry about the other two.
Posted by: Recon Number 54
Posted by: JFKES Don't know if I wish I could report you, or if this is the best thing I have read on the Flood.
I thought that I was careful to not illuminate the source or context of the paraphrasing. If someone recognizes it or researches it in order to know the source material, that is not my doing. I thought that the example (especially the sterilized version) was apropos.
I knew immediately the text, and see your summation as valid no matter what. [Edited on 11.09.2012 1:03 PM PST]
Posted by: Recon Number 54 "Teacher, which is the greatest commandment in the Law?" The person asking that question, and the person at whom it was directed BOTH knew that the question was a trap. Any specific answer would mean that someone had attempted to quantify and bracket the law with arguable specifics. And so, the wisest answer was to not answer it with specifics, but to direct the audience to consider the issue(s) for themselves. And if I may adapt the original response into something relevant and non-rule breaking, I think that we can see the wisdom in how the question (both then and here) is best answered. My apologies to the original speakers/authors. "Enjoy your time here with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind. This is the first and greatest rule. And the second is like it: Treat your fellow members as you would expect them to treat you. All the rules and the enforcement hang on these two."
Don't know if I wish I could report you, or if this is the best thing I have read on the Flood.
