10 years on Bungie.net

I don't like account birthday threads in the public forums, never have. I get it, though. You join a website, and its just a website. You go about your life, play video games, hang out with your friends, and kill some free time. Then it's one year later, and you can't believe it. You've been around for a full calendar year, which you didnt ever think would happen. You want to tell someone, but the truth is everyone else has already been there for a year so nobody cares. Then its been 5 years. Then its been 7, and you make an overused but still funny Bungie joke. Then suddenly, it's been an entire decade. I could sit here and talk about how much this place has changed, or how this place used to be the septagon, or how the septagon used to be part of Chapter Founders. I could talk about when Halo National used to be the biggest chapter on this website, or when Honey Mustard vs BBQ was the poll on the main page. Or when groups were chapters, for that matter. I could talk about sketchfactors first day, or when that stosh guy was just another dude who played Halo, or the threaded view. But Ive spent the last decade of my life subtley dropping reminders about what this place used to be like, and most of you don't care in the same way that I dont really care about Madonna, mullets, or the cold war. I get it. But 10 years ago, I was just some 13 year old kid who wanted to find out if the sequel to the greatest game he ever played was actually going to be made. A high school and college experience, first car, first "big boy" full time job, moves to 2 different cities and a move out into my own place without my parents later, and here I am. I've still got a lot of life in front of me, and by most standards I'm still a pretty young dude. But around these parts, Ive seen a lot. Way more than Ive ever expected to see. After all these years, its harder to keep track of who all of you are. But Ive seen a lot of people come and go, and I know this place isnt forever. So to everybody reading this now, I just wanted to say thanks for making this a cool place to hang out for the last 10 years. I wont remind you of this a year from now. Not five, and probably not another seven. But to anyone still around in 2022, I'll have some kind words for you as well then. Oh and to Bungie, I owe all of you guys and gals a drink

 •
Posted by: xXIHAYD0IXx
Posted by: RockdaleRooster Congrats Halo 53 :3 This makes me wonder how old you are in "Bungie Years" now that I think about it. How many Bungie years are in each chronological year?
Well, let's assume that the average bungie member stays on the sight for 4 years. (I am truncating spam accounts that last about a week) The average life of a human is about 70 years, so 1/70=x/4. Solve for x and you should find that one "Bungie year" is about 20 days 20 hours 34 minutes and 17 seconds. So that makes OP 175 Bungie Years Old. He's ancient.
I'm 43 years old by that math.

 •
Posted by: RockdaleRooster When I did that I got 18.205 "Bungie years" per year. which makes OP 182.05 years. So according to the calculations 1 chronological year= 18.205 Bungie years.
Well, I'm 88.32 years old. Better begin writing my will.

 •
Posted by: Halo53 But to anyone still around in 2022, I'll have some kind words for you as well then.
Let it be known that I have etched this into a crusty pizza box. If you do not make good on your word I will be forced to subpoena you for questionable questioning. Noodles will be involved. Glad to see you're still around and kicking. As far as this being just a forum? It truly is, but the community needs this place to stay connected. When a place like this can swing from incredible lows such as BB's untimely demise to great highs like The Pie thread. Well...its special. This place is a portal for fun. No cake.
