Not being of legal drinking age, what does 92 proof mean? I have heard of 80 proof and stuff, but I'm not sure what "proof" means.
can any liquor consumers help me?

Rum vodka?
Posted by: Marinade The highest proof alcohol I've ever had is Bacardi 151, which is 151 proof or 75.5% alcohol. If you take just a shot of it it burns your throat and tastes like nail polish remover smells. But it's a great in mixed drinks.
This man speaks the truth.

It's 46% volume. Probably nice mixed. Typical vodka's around 37.5%. [Edited on 10.12.2012 2:00 AM PDT]

Most i ever drank was some 120 proof Grappa in Rome.
Posted by: spartanfornow Proof is the alcohol by volume, multiplied by 2. 92 proof is therefore 46% alcohol by volume.
This. So, no, it's not much stronger than an average spirit.

No shoenice references?

But it's a great in mixed drinks. I also found that mixing it with butterscotch schnapps is pretty tasty too. I'd usually go about 25% 151 to 75% schnapps. Though a friend of mine got some wine his parents made, but didn't like. So he distilled it and made it as pure alcohol as he could. We have no idea what proof it was, but it was flammable and actually tasty. [Edited on 10.12.2012 12:04 AM PDT]

It's the strength of the booze. Say something is 100 proof, that means it is 50% alcohol. Just cut the number in half and that's the percent alcohol. The higher the number, the stronger it is. 101 Wild Turkey Bourbon. Good stuff.

I had 88% Absinthe in Czech Republic a few years ago. It was awful. Like, really bad and not enjoyable in the slightest.
Posted by: T1d3 so 92 proof is a lot then?
That's pretty strong...

First of all, Sailor Jerry is rum, not vodka. Secondly, "proof" is just twice the alcohol content. Something that is 92 Proof is 46% alcohol.

It's 92 on the PH scale, which is about ten times more basic than bleach.
