Every morning, around 8:15, I am awakened by the sun. Our apartment is angled perfectly for the sun to shine in our room super bright. The light is so bright, it actually wakes me up, and I have to put a pillow over my head to go back to sleep.
I remember the first time it happened, I was dreaming about some sort of war, and thought I was being bombed! I woke up my girlfriend screaming "Baby, we've got to get downstairs where it's safer!" ... Since then, I've woken up a few times with a racing heart.
Has anybody ever heard of this? I'm buying blackout curtains payday, so I won't be bothered, but I've never had trouble sleeping in natural light.
What other strange things have you woken up to?

I'm usually awake before the sun is shining in my window
-
I dont even get direct sunlight in my room because the building next door is too tall
-
Our building is in front of a soccer pitch, so we don't have other buildings in front of us and the sun hits my room every day. I have shutters though.

I was awoken this morning at 4am to a sound that can only be described as a badger raping a fox! Literally woke me an the missus up.. not what you need 1 hour before your alarm goes off..

Something the size of a small animal climbing on me at a friend's house in the middle of the night. I thought it was his dog, so I pushed it off and went back to sleep. In the morning I remembered that the dog was outside all night. I still wonder to this day what the hell was on top of me and why. [Edited on 10.08.2012 2:22 AM PDT]
Posted by: Fridge Gnome I feel terrible for you, it much better when an alarm wakes you up at 4:15am.
If you're implying I'm lucky I get to sleep in, please try to understand that I work late nights, and never get to see mornings. My whole summer was wrecked because I spent most of it sleeping the day away.. and don't even get me started on winters.
