Facebook wants you to pay for people to see you
Is that cat photo you posted on Facebook not resonating? A new feature the company is testing out lets you push Fluffy to the top of your friends' newsfeeds by shelling out cash.
Facebook's experimental "Promote" feature, released on Wednesday to a small group of U.S. users, allows you to pay Facebook (FB) to promote important pictures or announcements. Those who have access to the feature say a promoted post typically costs around $7.
Who would pay $7 for a single post?
Do you think it's a good idea?

I don't see why people care. Don't want to pay $7? Don't.

What is happening to this world

When I'm rich I'll pay it just because I can.
Posted by: T1B3R7uMB0YXVI Seems like it. All I have to do is create a new account, be sarcastic as best as possible, as well trolling to the max, get unlimited money from Facebook :) /winwin
...what?
Posted by: petitminou Oh, I thought they wanted to pay me. =(
That would make more sense. Not going to pay 7 dollars so people don't miss that I'm eating some bacon.
-
That's debatable. Depends on how they set it up.
Posted by: Cheeto666 I imagine this is more for "Official X" accounts, rather than the average user. While it may be available for everyone, I doubt most people will pay to have their instagram food photos put at the top of the feed. But, you can expect to see a lot of pages that you liked to use this. It's nothing we haven't seen before on Facebook, it's just more aggressive advertising than we're used to. Not to mention Adblock and the like won't work on this...
I would pay $14
Posted by: Slayer1878 If you're really that desperate, just keep reposting the picture every 5 minutes until everyone on your friends list blocks all posts from you. Or pay $7. Either way, the end result is going to basically be the same.
Pay $7 to be blocked. Sounds kinda upsetting. Almost.

*Points at Facebook HQ* This idea is bad and you should feel bad.
Posted by: Dustofsaturn God, I can see a couple of girls I have doing that. I see them share their own photo a couple of times over.
I hate it when a girl posts a picture, then posts it again. Then a little while later makes it their profile picture. Then makes it their Cover photo. I don't need that popping up on my feed 4 times.

Sounds reasonable to me
Posted by: petitminou Oh, I thought they wanted to pay me. =(
Lol, if that were the case I would probably go set up a Facebook account immediately.
