T4R. Like if someone has never broken a rule before, no moderation history period, is there anything they might do that would get them an instant permaban?
And what is grounds for an IP ban? How often are they dished out?

OT: I think it was pretty much covered already, but being a security threat to Bungie.net would pretty much be the only thing to get you an instant permaban. Don't be a hacker and I think you're good. [Edited on 09.24.2012 9:59 AM PDT]

Posting off-topic.

Probably posting a virus that would crash anyone's computer.

Well, you see, if you use another account to participate in a scheme involving your fake death to prove a point that the rules are indeed not set in stone and some of the mods are questionable, you may be permabanned on that other account. It's especially irritating when that account is the one you play Xbox Live and the mod knows that's the account you play Live on. This is purely hypothetical. [Edited on 09.24.2012 8:32 AM PDT]

I don't think it really matters what the exact line is as Spawn said earlier. You could probably earn a permaban from simply saying "Potatoes" enough times. It is just a matter of "how much is too much?" [Edited on 09.23.2012 7:10 PM PDT]

Impersonations, multiple bans, and obvious spam accounts all get permanent bans I believe.

I'd imagine the web-team doesn't draw a clear line for these kinds of bans. Fear of the unknown keeps most folks out of trouble. If they posted publicly what it was, there would be guys playing the "I'm not touching you!" game.

Well, permabans are to the best of my knowledge never issued without prior notice and/or warning. But IP Bans are different. This is a better question for a PM to a mod. [Edited on 09.23.2012 4:20 PM PDT]
